only if you put a minimum time of 15 minutes i like longer games if its a good game maybe a vote system to end at 25 minutes if 2/3 vote foir it.
also desertion penalty only if you can vote kick a play at least two thirds of players must vote for it of course. if you get vote kicked no penalty as we dont want this to be the penalty game,
I agree. I sometimes have no choice but to leave (why do parents have to be so demanding?), but I feel 10 minutes is way too long. 5 minutes is probably a decent time. I took bins out to the kerb one time, and it took me less than one minute, come back and I’ve been kicked for inactivity.
I don’t know why teams can’t just evenly split on conquest / assault. That way once they cap the point, all they have to do is sit and protect it as the enemy will eventually come back. But no. They just cap it and then the entire team comes to one point, leaving the other 1 or 2 points completely free for the taking.
Also on the topic or reverse d-day, which map is it exactly (I don’t get d-day a lot, is it the one where you start on the beach or you end on the beach?). And in response to the warning system, perhaps it could be the first time you desert half-way through each time you boot the game. That way, if you play at two different times of day, you can leave once each time if it really is that unbearable. Or maybe 2 warnings before punishment. That could be better.
The max time of a match should be 20 minutes, no question. War Thunder and World of Tanks both have a 15-minute game timer too, if I recall. Even then, some games at that length can start to drag on, especially if it’s a campier type of team. And I 100% agree with an extra booster (50% or so) for those who stay to the end, regardless of a win or lose, and an extra 50% for the winning team. Although, I do know some games that give the losing team extra, and that wouldn’t be a bad idea either. Maybe a 50% extra booster for the winning team and a 75% extra for the losing team. That way, it won’t really be that upsetting or pointless if you lose (only if it’s a stomp, which gets even the most light-hearted raging).
Im open to a minimum 15 minutes. But I do think there should be a cap as well.
I respect that you like longer games, remember that we could add your feature and players still vote to cut your matches short.
Also if you know the match is 25 minutes max, I think thats good because players like myself can say okay Ill need 25 minutes at most for this game.
You can say okay if this goes for only 20 minutes you can join another match. Wanna play for 1 hour? You could have 3 matches for example.
That way everyone gets what they want.
Im open to a vote kick. That can be abused though. I see it abused a lot in HLL.
im not going to have fun
im not having fun
i didnt have fun
how about we test a second no desertion que
simply you join a game and cant leave
depending how popular it is
a it becomes a fixed game mode
b becomes the only game mode
c is removed and the desertable game mode is continued alone
I am more inclined to demand rewards rather than punishment. For every additional deserter in the team, other players will gain an additional 10% of experience. This is very suitable. When there are already 5 deserters in the team, it is difficult to win the game. This way, those who stay have the opportunity to receive more rewards, and at least there will be no losses.
I don’t mind deserters that much.To be honest, I never expected these cowards to help me win. It’s only real for me to gain more because of my courage.
In addition, we have to consider another issue. If these cowards stay because of punishment, they will still be of no help to me by staying in the gray area. To be honest, they may not be as useful as AI.How to motivate players to make efforts for victory may be more important.
I am all for bonuses for staying. Imagine if 5 deserters leave (as bad as it is), we will end up getting the same amount of xp as if we won and they never left. And if we win, we basically get 2x xp for the battle.
Thank you both for your suggestions. I agree 100%.
Rewarding those that stay will be far more effective.
Jade you mention a really valid point that people seem to forget, what benefit does forcing people to stay actually provide?
If someones leaving because they got shot once so rage quitted, even if that player stayed they wouldnt be much help anyway.
Furthermore, either way people will leave the game. Legitimate reasons or cowards, they will leave. Now if its legitimate like me, youve lost 70% of your hard earned XP and now youre just pissed off.
The cowards dont care.
We also agree that the issue with deserters isnt that people need to leave the game, its that theres less players. But, as weve just discussed, a good team of 6 people with 4 deserters or a good team of 6 people with 4 useless afk players either way what matters is the good 6 people. So lets reward them and give them better rewards to compensate for the loss of teammates.
I can only speak for myself, but for me, there is no penalty DF could impose short of banning or suspending players for deserting that would deter me. That being said, NEITHER does anything to help DF declining player numbers. So, neither will ever be an option, and even suspensions wouldn’t deter me as I have lots of other games I can play, as well as I live in the Philippines and have more beautiful beaches then I can count, so… non starter with me.
Why are so many people hell bent on penalties as the only solution to deserters? My goodness, I am glad you weren’t my parents. I was punished as a child sure, but also given incentives as well, and people react much better to incentives then punishment.
Remember, “you can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar”.
Players have a LIFE outside of games. Sometimes you just gotta leave. Deal with it. You shouldnt be punished because youre not addicted to computer games…
They are leaving because of stupid maps or gamemodes. That can easily be fixed by DF by allowing players to select preferred or hated modes/maps.
Id also like to see a better time limit. I say 25 minutes, that way we avoid those super quick seal clubbing sessions of like 10 mins, and the frustrating boring slogs of 50 minutes etc.
War Thunder you can leave without penalty, I dont understand why that isnt applied to Enlisted.
If you leave early I dont give a damn why, you just get your XP to that point and dont get the end of game bonus. Same as Hell Let Loose and various other games.
It’s not that hard LOL.
Enjoy the Filipino beaches I think Australia has the best beaches but we can argue over that another time hahaha.
Since I live on the same side of the world now, I might take a week trip to Australia sometime. As far as beaches, I have been to beaches in the Philippines, Florida, Hawaii and Bahamas, and so far, I would rate Filipino beaches number one followed by Hawaii. I just moved to a different Island a couple weeks ago, so I have yet to go to a beach, but this below is the beach I used to go to in Palawan, Nagtabon Beach.
Here’s my two cents on this. (I haven’t read all replies. If someone else mentioned this, I’m sorry!)
A very small percentage of people leave because of the maps / gamemodes, though the ability to select them yourself is still needed.
Harsh penalties. Such as 75% XP, Silver, Research Points, etc. lost upon quitting. Any medals you’ve earned during the match (because some people leave just before the end of a losing match) will be lost.
I understand that there are deserters who have unlocked everything, leveled up everyone, so XP loss for them isn’t a big deal. These people leave, because they only want “Wins” to show up in their stats. So, I think the devs should add a new statistic: Matches Deserted. No squirting your way around that one.
I can also get behind the timeout thing. I used to play SWTOR and there, if you quit matches, your waiting time would increase: 5 minutes, 15 minutes, 30 minutes, 1 hour, etc.
I realize that however I don’t really have any failsafe ideas for what should happen when you’re forced to “leave” because of a bad connection or something.
I went through 56 years of snow in Iowa, until I escaped to Florida in 2021, then to the Philippines in July 2023. I haven’t put on a pair of pants in about three years, it’s been all shorts.
