Add bipod to MG39

this is mg 3 not mg42

By pure coincidence I’ve just learned that MG4’s bipod was mounted on a spring clip:

And judging by this picture:

MG39 also was supposed to have similar mechanism. (Small rod in the middle was probably for locking the bipod in the folded position like in the early bipod for 42.)

Of course I don’t know if 42’s bipod would fit it (probably not) or if it was to be developed. But I think it’s interesting enough to share.

I’ll leave this one without comment, lol.

Or make the soldier shout oof ouch owie mein hand after sustained fire

And make his hand go:

Still.

Just like LMG without bipod isn’t LMG.

Yeah, whatever.

Is this your religion? Because all I see is false dogma.

What dogma? If something can’t fill a role of LMG, it’s not LMG.

(Enc. Britannica. Not ideal source but from what I know it’s generally considered to be quite good.)

In this case I guess it could be classified as automatic rifle? Though I’m not sure. Also it would be quite bad at this job.

If anything everybody else follows some weird dogma of “the Holy Image of MG39 shows it without a bipod (but also a clear mounting spot for it, who cares) so we should ignore it’s real life applications and implement it’s model 1:1”.

I didn’t know MG39 is modern machine gun.

It serves (more or less) the same role as modern light machine guns so I’d say the definition still applies. Because you know, it’s basically the same gun (/weapon system/combat role) but old.

Quite bad argument tbh.

Edit:
Also it looks like MG42 is a modern machine gun:
https://www.bundeswehr.de/de/ausruestung-technik-bundeswehr/ausruestung-bewaffnung/mg3
I guess that a competing design (MG39) would be somewhat similar to it when it comes to usage and it’s combat role.

But who cares, right?

well, if i managed to “add” a bipod to a dp 27:

or rather, unfold

how… hard can it be for officials to do the same?

( well, it would look like as if it’s unfolded, but in reality i just hided the folded bipod part from the base dp27, and added the DPM animchar with the actual unfolded bipod and hide all the parts that i wouldn’t need, to then alling the bipod position )

Apparently devs’ workflow is much different from what you guys (moders) do with files.
I remember somebody fixed G41 (?) reload animation with just one line of code while it took DF like a year?

So yeah, “the milling stones of bureaucracy grind slowly” as they say here (actually nobody uses this proverb nowdays but I like it). Or devs are lazy / don’t care. One of two.

It’s just MG. Not LMG not MMG not HMG.
It’s german thing, not murican. There is no really need in using murican classification for it.
Bipods it’s just supportive acsessuar for mg, it’s not part of mechanic like tracks.

They added DPM where it’s open…
They just need to add animation for bipods. It will be best variant. (But it will take next decade)

You really want the answer?

that is much true.

it appears as if the editor is like one of those marvel parallel dimension

half of the stuff that works in the editor does not work in the official game.

( except my bipod in the battle of spartanovka. that one functions on both clients. let’s make this clear )

and apparently, through james i found out that names of things are in reality different from the editor ones.

so… we don’t know how much things are different to the full extent.

we’ll never know.

yes, tommy fixed it in his BA.

and DF couldn’t in one year and a half.

so true.

just like bipods ehi.

2 years to fix them.

but in 2 years they didn’t had problems adding new prems, models, and features locked behind those with some occasional event squads.

go figure…

yeah… maybe for 2035 we’ll get something like that.

at this point, yes

You know the answer, isn’t?

Tommy made just different and better game.
Not surprised that’s his mod most popular.

If we speak about ww2 german clasification, then it depends on the use.
When used on bipod (so in LMG role) it’s called MG.
When it’s used on a tripod it’s called sMG (schweres maschinengewehr).

So from what I know, in this case I can call it LMG in american-british nomenclature as it serves the same role.

Then it’s a sniper rifle without optics.

well, there isn’t a definitive answer per say.

only " many " answers.
no concrete one that is.

as it goes for the main thread, i believe no one actually uses this squad…
i could be wrong.
but then again, it’s more of a collectible squad.

which for some reason i decided to use in my moscow HA profiles.
( which it’s a terrible idea because it’s not really HA, but their uniforms looks goofy and actually existed. probably one of the few squad with default winter clothing )

indeed.

a shame they never reached to him to making it into an actual event.

but i suppose it’s not of everyone taste, and kinda demises DF " business" when it comes to the free to play part.

i just wished he would BA on more maps.

but it’s not that simple and there aren’t many large sized maps.
