Worst class for new players?

This will probably anger some people but I really believe the worst class a new player can jump into is the sniper.

We all see people sitting far away “sniping”, maybe getting a kill or two as the point completely crumbles. This is a team game and if the entire team is off watching butterflys through a scope everyone suffers.

This doesnt mean all snipers are bad, many experienced players are pretty good and can really support a team. I just see this class as counter productive for newer players and would prefer the game push engineers instead of sniping out the gate.

Imo it’s fighter pilot.
Even experienced player is next to useless when flying a fighter, let alone new player.

I always hated sniper class. I think engi should’ve been one of the default squads. Not the sniper. Scoped rifles just encourage new players to sit back from the point and larp like its hll or some shit. The quicker a player learns 2 engi, the better it is for everybody

Sniper and Fighter
I agree with you and @VoyoMayPL

Agreed, especially with the extremely tanky damage models in Moscow/Berlin/Tunisia. Normandy it can slide since there are actual good models there, but the majority of campaigns they need to stay out of the air and on the ground.

Yeah that too. A bad fighter pilot just circles the map all game killing almost nothing. Usually when I play as the BF110 or A20 I can ignore most fighters and still make 3 passes

I don’t agree with fighter class, if you know how to fly and know limits of planes and have either good heavy cannon or ordenance it is quite easy to do well.

The discussion is about a NEW PLAYER.

Such a player may eventually become a good fighter pilot, but they are unlikely to be one right at the beginning, and in the mean time they are holding a slot for someone who might well fit your idea.

Very good point. Atleast the sniper doesnt block someone who would be more useful

I fully agree. The life of a fighter pilot is rough and unrewarding even for veteran players… new guy who installed the game just yesterday is not going to have a good time.

Definitely sniper and fighter. Fighter blocks a slot and sniper is very situational. They probably won’t know the map real well so will be running around looking for a little sniper roost instead of getting kills, even if they’re good at sniping

Fighter.

Sniper is SURPRISINGLY ok. Let me explain why:

(From observing my friends whose highest campaign lvl are… 5.)
Sniper is a “relax” way to get into the game. Learn the feel of it. New players can’t really be asked to bum rush right off the bat with their riflemen or single assaulter and survive if they meet ANY of the regulars here. It just doesn’t work.

With the sniper role though… they can learn on their own pace, and most importantly, learn to aim, something smg monkeys don’t even need to. Heck, my pals even managed to snipe me from time to time in the custom matchs we made (ok, I was goofing around dune jumping with motorcycle, but still… Imagine I went towards cap zones and not desert ruins)

THEN, when they get the feel of how bolties work, how much damage they dish, how dispersion etc. works, they pass to other classes.

everything that isnt either an assaulter or an engineer.

flametrowers, snipers , mortars, bombers early campaign are waste of progression time , experience and overall they botleneck the progression.

a new player or any early campaign player need xp, nothing better than assaulters to fight on the points as much as possible.

The other important thing that snipers MUST do (because they have the optics with which to do it) is MARK.

A sniper should be simultaneously MARKING enemy targets while removing MGs, radio ops, mortar operators, etc. A good sniper should be able to mark tanks before they get to engagement range (or at least pinpoint their location in the grey zone).

Obviously, this is more difficult on some maps than on others (most of the maps in Berlin really reduce the importance of snipers, IMO). D-Day is probably the best map for snipers, as they are a crucial part of the offensive effort at pretty much every point.

So I agree on snipers, but maybe not for the exact same reasons. I doubt new players are fully onboard with how essential marking targets and enemy concentrations actually is.

How to mark and why should really be a lection in basic tutorial. Proper marking is an effective weapon and can decide wether a match is won or lost.

Indeed - and this is another skill a new player is unlikely to have.

For me the answer :it depends.
It depends on :
the situation /current state of the match
Which map
Which campaign
Which gamemode (conquest, assault,invasion etc.)
Are you defending or attacking
Which weapon you are using

My Personal preference I would prefere a sniper over mortarmen since they are good to lock down areas, take down mgs, counter other snipers. Shoot mg on tanks if he pops out. And so on. As soon mortarmen used all their mortargrenades they are kind of just a regularitet infantry without ammo or backpacks .

Fighter pilots in most cases are mainly for countering airplanes . But they are gonna get a bigger role very soln of the release of airraids so when u hear the alarm you can get præpareret for it.
