Bomb sights have been added to high-altitude bombers from BR 4 to BR 5, finally putting the belly bomb aimers to good use. Still, many worry this feature might be overpowered, and there hasn’t been much discussion about it on the forums.
On open maps like Tunisia and Moscow, bombers can make repeated bombing runs. Most players don’t bring dedicated air-superiority fighters. Free-to-play players only have four deployment slots, which are usually taken up by engineers, leaving little room for aircraft or anti-air units to intercept bombers. The situation gets even worse if some pilots only strafe ground targets and let enemy bombers run rampant.
At very high altitudes, ground infantry models fail to load, so players have to bomb blindly using objective markers. Also, walls and towers drastically reduce shrapnel damage from bombs.
On the plus side, aircraft with poor visibility such as the XA38, BJ25 and Ju 188 can aim and drop bombs accurately without risky dives. Do you think this update poses a major threat?
What do you think of the bombsight?
Restores historical authenticity.
Buffs underperforming bombers.
Anti-air units become more important.
It’s too overpowered — this feature should not be added.
I think it was easier to get shot down when diving before. Bombers rely on climbing to high altitude to avoid anti-aircraft fire and fighter interception.
These large, clumsy aircraft, loaded with heavy bombs, lose altitude and energy when diving at low level, making them more vulnerable and easier to shoot down .
We might as well talk about it. After all, not everyone follows the test server.
This thing will definitely bring some big changes to the game.
Might as well let everyone know so we can all be prepared.
I mean, as someone who is crap. Yeah. Agree to your sarcastic suggestion. And remove lead indicators from AA and planes, even though i struggle to hit planes WITH the indicator.
Dont worry too much about the bombsights.
I have tested them, have you too?
It’s not a miracle device that allows for laser guided super accurate bombing.
Steering the airplane while using the bombsight is very difficult.
So before switching to the bombsight, you need to fly directly towards the intended target, then switch to the bombsight and start bombing.
Because adjusting the course of the airplane while using the bombsight is very difficult.
Open areas are not too bad but hitting ground vehicles is not easy at all.
In fact, I predict that using the bombsight may cause crashes, just like failed divebombings, because much steering while using the bombsight is not advisable.
I don’t think any plane equipped with a bombing sight is maneuverable enough to actually use it that way. I tried it on the test server, but adjusting the left-right aim with the bombsight is extremely difficult. If you try to use it like that, you’ll either mess up your turn and drop the bombs in a completely random spot, slam into the ground, or snap your wings.
Of course I know that, and I’m actually a big fan of adding this feature. All bombers in War Thunder have a bomb sight view. In this game, when I’m flying planes like the Pe-3, SB and Ju 188, I can’t see anything below the fuselage and have to dive forcibly to drop bombs.
However, the map in Enlisted is designed for low-altitude combat. These slow aircraft lose a lot of energy while diving to bomb, making them extremely vulnerable to anti-aircraft fire and enemy fighters, which can shoot them down in one pass.
I made this post mainly to bring this issue to everyone’s attention. Otherwise, after the game update, many inexperienced players will get overwhelmed by opponents who can bomb accurately with the bomb sight. Then we’ll surely see floods of complaints on the forum saying this feature is overpowered and asking developers to remove it.
