No, seriously, why?
It’s not like they are (were) OP weapons of destruction in the first place.
It’s not like they have so many ammo that they can afford spamming lead, either.
It is, obviously, a measure to decrease the viability of bolt actions against semi and automatic weapons. But what’s the reason behind it?
Is it intended to discourage long range fighting and promote close quarters brawls? If so, what’s wrong with long range engagements?
Is it intended to “nerf” starter weapons, thus increasing incentive for players to unlock later ones?
Is it a way to “counter” console aim assist (or other, less legit forms of assist)?

FG42 goes pew pew and so does power creep
Why this? If anything is done to rifles, semi-auto’s shouldn’t be able to spam fire. That would’ve been a change that makes sense for this update IMO.
Instead semi-auto now works better they fix the hitreg
Was that in the patch notes? I might’ve skimmed over it but I don’t recall seeing anything like that.

They didn’t. The patch notes where mistranslated.
From Keofox on Reddit :
"Vice versa. This will not affect rifles, for example a single shot submachine gun will be slightly less accurate.
This is reality. Bolt-action rifles are MORE accurate with single shots.

Sorry for the bad translation. This line was originally in Russian. We will fix this now."
So, first shot of AUTOMATIC weapons is less accurate.

to me this doesn’t seem to make any sense.

If we’re talking smgs then yeah it makes sense to be less accurate even when tapping the trigger simply because of lower muzzle velocity. Less so for machine guns.

So you are almost punished for using burst fire like you are supposed to?
