Why I (a f2p) won't be playing Stalingrad

I am a player that started playing this game the moment OBT released for everyone and I have maxed out everything on both sides in Moscow, Berlin, and Normandy. I have two reasons as to why I won’t be playing this new campaign which would be the paywall and regrinding old gear we’ve already unlocked in the previous campaigns.

They said that they will be adding new content, but I know deep down that all the new content (except the medics maybe) would all be locked behind the paywall, with that inside the paywall all that’s really left for me in this campaign is to regrind the same equipment I’ve unlocked 4 fucking times already. And for the maps ? Balls to the wall urban warfare ? We already have that, it’s called the Battle of Berlin, literally all you have to do is unequip your FG 42s and AVTs and just equip bolties, PPsh41s and Mp 40s

So why make a post about this, why should you care what I think ? This is because I believe Stalingrad is everything we (Old players) fear.

We feared that adding new campaigns would only stretch the small playerbase too far. That doing another campaign just means repeated unlocks that would make us smash our head against the wall. You have new flame tanks and medics yes, but I believe these are fads, like bikers in Tunisia remember those guys? Yeah no one uses them anymore. Flame tanks will be overshadowed by much better tanks and the only way to salvage them would be to allow them to not take up the same slot as tanks, however even then they have to face the inevitable detpack spam coming their way, and as for medics? They will completely overshadow assaulter squads and assaulters themselves since they do the same fucking job as assaulters except this time they drop medikits everywhere.

The reality is that Stalingrad is just one massive petri dish to experiment on. We have new features like paywalls and new mechanics and weapon behavior. Then once everything has been said and done they’ll discard the campaign into a shitcan like what they did with Tunisia, a campaign that a majority of us can say is perhaps one of the most retarded campaigns in game.

And they will do it again, again, and again until the playerbase is stretched thin and we inevitably get bored from their bullshit, because as they keep adding more campaigns and more features, glaring problems with the game are getting ignored, and thanks to glorious Russian spaghetti code, I can bet your ass this new update is going to come with it’s own set of problems, trust me on this one, old bugs will reemerge alongside the new and we will all mald in the forums on why Stalingrad is a dogshit campaign.

With that being said once this campaign drops you can find me on Normandy. Feel free to come by and say hello

Imo it all depends on how much stuff is paywalled. If it’s resonable, I don’t see much problem with this. They are a company after all and they have to earn.
I only hope playing this campaign as f2p won’t give a feeling of playing a demo.

Yes same here, I might change my mind on a whim if I see something new, although deep down I know the moment I get those unlocks I’ll just stop playing the campaign immediately

Yeah, we actually have to little information on this, but tbh I have a bad feeling about all of this.

Finally a reasonable analysis that everybody should read it

Probably regular soldier and veichle dont be closed behind a paywall but only sidegrade or special squad
Example
Assaulter 2 german mp35/mp41 lv 20
_________ Hungarian mp41 (orita) lv26

I also think it will be sth like this.
Most stuff will be for free but all unique and “I want this” stuff will be paywalled. So f2p players will grind 5th MP40 and players who payed may unlock mentioned Orita. It just makes sense.

Practically there are the new premium squad

There are 2 mp41 so maybe the german version is free
The mp41 (orita) is romanian

I love how people have come to a conclusion that it’s going to be terrible. We have absolutely no idea yet you’ve apparently seen the outcome of this already, stop being impatient and wait for the actual results and stop whining like a little bitch.

seriously, if it will be different atmosphere, different weather… it will be good

I’m glad, I am not the only one with doubts regarding the new update.

This update kinda prices me out even though I support the game with year premium and extra slots on most campaigns and the odd cheap squad, I’m happy spending little amounts here and there.

I guess this is not the wish of the company and they want a one off purchase. This may work very well for a game
with a high churn amount of players.

I’m kinda gonna guess that free players are going to feel
screwed over that they are behind a paywall playing against
paying players getting maxed out guns and soldiers with X4 experiance gain straight away.
Also we don’t know what squads are going to be locked.

As a paying player, im also not that happy playing against
wallet warriors with maxed out stats off the bat.

This too. F2p just coming to enlisted are going to notice that incredibly and might be discouraged from playing Stalingrad and might have a negative view on the game as a whole if that might be the case

Well could be, could also be like @Suisei_6host fears, that everything new (airstrike radio team, medic, flamethrower tanks) will be locked behind a paywall. Tbh I fear the same, but as I said, we do not know, for now.

I mean keofox said that it is more than one campaign unlock, starting from mid level. He also said that everyone has to grind for it, meaning that f2p players, but also paying customers, that have bought other stuff before, will get nothing but the full-access players will get it.

We can speculate day and night, without knowing which is true. We only know once it is published by the dev’s. I hope you are right with what you assume is going to happen. And I hope I Suisei and others that are worried are wrong. Well we will gonna find out in 1-2 weeks!

While this focus solely on the campaign unlocks and advantages in form of troops, features and gameplay mechanics the “full-access” people might get and f2p don’t it does not cover that a decent player will be able to finish the campaign in probably 2-3 days, 2-4 times faster as premium user and 4-8 times faster as f2p players. Honestly, who thinks f2p will play the campaign?

Like I stated before, this all is speculation and we will see in the coming days or coming weeks how things will turn out.

I’m hoping that I’m also wrong, but I’ve seen how carelessly they handled Tunisia, this was a campaign that we’ve been hyping about, and to see it in it’s current state is disappointing, I often daydream how Tunisia could’ve been better but obviously there’s nothing more that can be done.

If gaijin can’t even handle Tunisia, and people are complaining about the current campaigns we already have (i.e detpack spam, Plane spam, etc) there is no sane reason as to why we should have a new campaign when we should be focusing on the ones we currently have, even if this was set in the Pacific, I will have serious doubts on any new campaign if they’re pumped out like this

Oh maybe because of the economy rebalance? Because of all the silver order drama? Or that they changed the way your re-roll perks (before you gained reroll points which was quicker and easier to use). Because once they released a day one patch to nerf XP gain in custom servers into the ground, because some individuals abused it?

I have with most of the stuff no problem at all, as a player, because with premium and battle pass I have more than enough of everything. But yeah, Enlisted needs to get “bigger” and I think if it attracts more f2p players some of them might sooner or later spend money, because they like the game. If they keep making it harder for f2p players, what is going to happen?

The biggest issue I personally have with what’s been listed is that instead of fixing progression they are letting you skip it with a single convenient purchase. Also there’s nothing worse than a clear deliniation between paying and non-paying players.
