Why do SOME people hate the Devs

I started playing enlisted last summer and the first thing that struck me was the abnormal amount of hate the devs get on Steam especially.

Every piece of news/posts is always met with critisicm (not ALWAYS) and disgruntled veterans.

Even when there’s good and cool stuff some people cant be grateful.

Was there a time where you could genuinely reach out to devs and ask them questions.

Let say that most veteran players (well at least me, Idk if I can speak for everyone) are rather disapointed by the updates.

Basically we are getting fewer content that we used to get and the devs’ communication is not helping.

For instance in 2025 we only got two new maps (Wald and Manchuria). Not that they are bad (they are some of the best map in the game for me personally) but they are mostly made from reused assets from other maps : Wald is mostly reused buildings from Seelow, while Manchuria is a mix of Burma and Moscow.

Furthermore, in early 2025 we got a huge delay in both BP and update. And speaking of the BP, the devs made a very controversial move when changing how BP weapons, vehicle and soldiers would work with the disapearance of the Gold Order.

Moreover, many old bugs are still running around and still not fixed (bipods being mostly disappointing or even bots always switching to automatic pistols…)

And finally, Active Mater : many devs were switched from enlisted to this new gaijin game. And seemingly they weren’t replaced.

I hate the developers only because I remember what the game was like in 2021. And I loved this game. And I’ve seen the game lose its soul over the years. Yes, there were obvious problems like grindwalls, a weird economics, online splits, and so on. But at some point, the game started turning into something it wasn’t. And that’s incredibly frustrating. If I’d seen this for the first time in 2025, I simply wouldn’t have played it.

yea so a bunch of questionable decision have been made before you join and that why most vet (sometime include me too) are rather negative about it.

For example: for 200k research point you get like 4k silver that is a horrible conversion rate that no one seem to want change for some reason. FYI it would have been worse than this but still i hope it get improve in the future.

oh btw free bp gold used to be 100 and now it only 50

That was not controversial at all - it was almost 100% agreed to have been the better system.

Previously you received 100 gold every 3 months, but now you get 50 gold every month tho

i guess that is technically better. Idk tbh about that one

Few months ago, I would say most people were just disappointed and we couldn’t tell whether it was truly devs’ fault for everything happened. Maybe it was the management maybe they weren’t given any resources. Still, you can tell something very bad was happening inside DF.
Now I personally don’t like devs because of their sheer incompetence. They released the lastest zombie mode event without proper thoughts and play testing. The whole event was boring buggy and unnecessarily long just for us to grind. The pub experience was beyond miserable. Still, devs had the balls to actual show up on the forum and tell us how good they were at the event. Sure, they only need to play a few matches for testing purposes while the playbase had to endure for a month! They are completely out of touch and it has nothing to do whether they are given resources to work on anything. Moreover, we have a map designer on this forum asking for feedback. What we got in the end? Tunisia with more trees and Manchuria map that is just a mesh up of all existing maps. Very impressive work. It is very clear that enlisted’s problem is not just about management and lack of resources.
I don’t even need to rant about all the bad balance decisions, silence on player feedback, and the statement from our cm that ''devs don’t like to bend their knees for popular demand."

Because they are lazy, they make a lot of bad decisions and they are wasting a game with great potential(that last point is largely the fault of the gaijin as well)

i would say that lots of criticism is really deserved. lots of good ideas are implemented half assed (e.g. merge or preferred map system) and lot of stuff that could be easily fixed(e.g. change 1 parameter) needs years to get fixed(e.g. ppsh dispersion). also there are mandatory recurring bugs that come back into the game cause devs dont use git or github. ffs how many times do they need to fix MM so it doesnt get 13vs10 MM or for bots to stop using pistols instead of rifles or whatever other bug that has been fixed to come back again cause someone used old version of code from who knows where.

You know why i hate the developers?

Because the never gave us propper content Even the smallest nonsense like more folders some good looking events or at least polish their gamemodes or smt like that i’m not Even going into tecnicall stuff like Game balance just the obvious stuff that would make the players experience easier like a map choosing without limitations removing the boosters expiration date add a global chat, clans/teams/groups type system, more love to the consoloids and modders since they have it hard most of the times with this Game and +0 MM

And if developers can’t do this simple additions what they are indirectly telling me is that they arent gonna do Even the most simple Game balance chances and Even less they Will adress the Bugs relationed to the gameplay… (cof cof… Fucking bidpods and AI)

They also seem recently on not caring about this Game at all giving barely any sing of life or just mini pieces for puzzled and fomo eventd which are absolute trash…and dissapointing

First of all, this is a tradition.
In order not to attribute the responsibility and criticism to the development company itself
Generally, the company will appoint a producer, a planner and a developer.
Specific individuals similar to this
This person was declared to have a certain level of status, being the top player in the entire game and having the power to determine the future direction of the game (though this might not be true). The players would then go crazy in their pursuit of this figure who was publicly identified as the producer, planner, game developer, and so on.
This person can launch some satellites during live broadcasts or when interacting with players, providing some visions of the future. Although it may not necessarily come true, these are sufficient to soothe those crazy players.
This specific person is the sacrificial offering that the game company throws at the crazy gamers. [Just kidding!]

Then, the game development company does have real problems that prevent it from being as perfect as originally planned. So the crazy players began to fight back. This poor victim [even if the game development company goes to extremes and pretends to fire this planner in the end, that would be fine].

Well they made one game based on some premises, then fcked it all up during the way.
So yeah…
and nowadays they just hash out half assed shit so yes

you get love when you deserve it u know

It’s simple
They don’t listen to the community
They don’t fix bugs that been in the game since the beginning
They removed the Gold Orders (which people didn’t want to happen)
MajorMcDonalds basically left us for Active Matter
They’re silencing criticism
The new maps are barely special (besides Manchuria but that use both Japanese and Russian assets)
They barely do anything to fix the A.I.
And the list goes on.

We 100% had better CMs in the past. The current ones maybe monitor the the latest news post for a day or two and if you are lucky they maybe even concider giveing you a answer but othere thant that are rarely seen on the forum.

Enlisted has changed a lot since launch which means many of the long time players no longer play the same game that they came for (for better or worse). The biggest example for that is the merge which was the pinicle of an controverial update as it basicly overhauled how the entire game was played.

Given how faction progession and MM is split into seperate faction enlisted was the perfect breeding ground for faction mains that only care about their own faction and if their faction underperforms they quickly blame the devs for it (even if it 80% is just players skill issueand not really the fault of the devs).

DF has their favorite factions and the quality of equipment on some sides always seams a lot better than on the others (doesnt help that the CM basicly admited that the scotti rifle had been pre nerfed in order to be worse than the fedorov avtomat TT gun just so soviet players would not complain but then when US or SU get new BP weapons they almost always are pushing the limits in terms of powerlevel).

While the US and USSR got plenty of highly requested items post merge (some of them was desperately need to catch up but not all) germany has barely gotten really good new items post merge with only the Mg 42 100 and the jet actually seeing play the rest is still just pre merge era stuff. This resulted in a large portion of the axis playerbase to feel neglected as all they did recieve was equipment worse than what they already had.
This is epecially noticable in the one update that should by all accounts be all about the german faction namely the “jet power” update. Without the ME 262 being so iconic for late war germany nobody else would have requested jets to be added (as basicly only germany made use of jets in combat.
But since the allied jet ended up having twice the payload with twice the manoverability (and USSR had even gotten a post war jet instead) the 262 which should have been the focus of the update just ended up beeing overshadowed. This paired with some questionable balance choices really rubbed axis players the wrong way which eroded a lot of the trust into the devs from the axis side.

Also given how scummy/borderline illegal some of the buisness practices had been it should really suprise nobody that devs/gaijin is seen as greedy scumbags that just want your money and care for nothing else. Wanting money is understandable but if you want 60 bucks for 2 low quality premiums and then even engae in bait and switch tactics you really give players no othere choise.

If they didn’t always try to diminish players’ benefits and attempted to increase the difficulty of event tasks (I remember one event where we had to achieve 15,000 points daily), then I would think they are decent. The game is quite interesting, although updates are really slow.
I don’t mind too much about slow game updates, but actions that disrupt players’ gaming experience make me disgusted, that’s all.
