Been playing since last year and never earned any points whatsoever towards increasing rank name (soldier, sergeant etc). Same with my friends who I play on xbox with. Don’t desert matches and win regularly so why is it never upping my rank?
They changed how ranking works a while ago.
You need to click your portrait and head to the ranks tab at the top. You now have to manually click the rank up button. It doesn’t do it automatically.
I’m not in front of my PC atm, so I can’t provide a screenshot of where you need to go, but hopefully my description helps somewhat. 
Actually, thinking about it, what I said refers to the rewards for ranking up.

You do have to infact open the rank screen and click claim reward for each one. However you should still level up automatically
I have a PS5 pro but my friend doesn’t so that’s why we play the Xbox Series X version.

At a certain rank you have to start winning more matches thsn you loose to rank up again. Maybe this is the problem?

Not even ranking past the first rank and definitely winning more than losing. Not even getting any points. The rating point is always 0 no matter how many times battles are won. So can’t even get rank of Private.
This means xbox players seem to be locked out of certain achievements.

Yes but the progress isn’t afaik. And we don’t use discord. Or game chat.

I’m on xbox, and i max rank out pretty much every season. Have never heard of this before.
Only other info i can give is if you leave a game early or disconnect it doesn’t count on the record. Also, I’ve been playing a premium account pretty much from the start. I don’t know how a free account might affect this either. I didn’t pay attention to all that when i first started and was free

Definitely x/s version. I’ve had premium at various timss and never ranked up during those either.

It seems that it’s only for br battle modes and not custom which sucks as the br battle mode hadn’t worked for ages. Suddenly worked today but it’s hectic as hell and I was given Americans even though I’m on the Russians atm.
