Why do devs waste resources on events, and then use the assets for nothing?

From the top of my head, I can list numerous events where the devs created new maps, assets and mechanics for events which are now shelved.

Examples include the WW1 event, where new uniforms, tanks, maps, mechanics were all made; the moon map, with new tanks, maps; the modern warfare event (albeit might have been ported over to war thunder infantry); the mech chicken walker event. I am sure there are many others which spring to your mind, which I have omitted

All these assets created, and literally for what? If anything, a waste of dev time is to create assets which they can use to better the game, like for example BR0 or taking the mass assault mechanic from WW1 to have a moment like the fountain scene in enemy at the Gates - just an idea being illustrated at the lost potential / misallotment of resources

I am not saying that these events were not fun, but I would like to see dev time used better so that effort put into an event results in more than short term fun, but long term content like maps, mechanics, weapons etc

Am I the only one who feels like way? It so often feels like we are in this period in enlisted where there is a drought of content, and then suddenly a massive event comes and vanishes and then the drought returns. Surely, again, a better use of dev time would be a sustained effort of permanent content, than temporary content?

Because most of those assets don’t fit with WW2.

I say this all the time. Stop doing trashy, non-WW2-themed events. And start doing proper WW2 events. I have no idea why all special events have to be about anything but WW2. It’s so lame. I don’t play a WW2 game to shoot zombies or take part in WW1.
There are other games for that.

On this front I actually agree, I would rather see a WW2 event and the assets eventually be recycled into the game, than have an event which is non-WW2 and have no long term benefit from it

If I want a modern day shooter, or a zombie game - I would go out of my way to go play it

WWI assets ported from WT’s own WWI event a year ago. There are a lot of unused asset you can only access in the editor like the Jagdtiger, Wirberlwind, American M3A1 Half Track I can name on top of my head that is just waiting to be released to the live game.

it does seem a bit silly to me that there is a base of players who are constantly asking for more - like people like the game to such an extent that there is like an uproar that more is not being given to play, and then they assign devs to create content which side tracks from giving the players actual long term WW2 content

instead they are like - here peasant enjoy your WW1 event and stfu and have a red PPSH lol

I was looking through the old events and the red weapons thing is older than I thought (2022 ppsh 42).
as far as reskins go I love nickel finishes with ivory grips and wooden furniture, but red anodizing feels a bit out of place.

Agree except for the WWI event, that was awesome. Not something I would play all the time but was just right for a special event. Loved the gearhead club from that event

while the april fool leaderstorm is technically the most useless out of the bunch.

i wouldn’t say the others are wasted resourches.

especially when modding exists.

ww1 is the perfect example of being rather usefull since they won’t give us custom content.

so the closest would be being able to use those.

beside, it those would get removed, we wouldn’t have variety in said mods.
and sometimes you can even replay the event if you like it.

for console players though, we do not benefit from custom matches / modded content

so events which cannot be recycled into the game only favour a small portion of the community

can’t believe I am agreeing with @Adampee on this one, but events need to be WW2 in nature so that we can eventually see the content generated in the game to have a long term benefit to the wider community

but yes, even if gimmicky and most wouldn’t work in a ww1.

i don’t see much wrong with having ww1 uniforms ( since some were used ) or vehicles etc.

that’s a bit of a separated issue.

but in theory, you could benefit from it.

as most of what modders do / use are particularly from these events.

like the zombie ones which are somewhat populars.

but objectively we don’t because console players cannot use mods / host custom matches which are modded

But it doesn’t. Not in the context of Enlisted, that is. There are maybe two good mods. And that’s it.

a rather subjective take.

but mods still exists and the mods editor is a part of enlisted.

… so… still a valid point from me i’m afraid for you.
