Thanks to recent events, I had the opportunity to acquire the Breda PG; at the same time, I unlocked the SVT-38 for the Soviets. I find it quite intriguing that their handling characteristics are so similar. The Breda PG uses the 6.5mm Carcano, while the SVT-38 uses the 7.62mm Russian round which, logically speaking, is more powerful yet their performance is remarkably alike. This is particularly striking when compared to other similar 7mm-class calibers, which do not offer that same level of controllability.

The Breda PG and the SVT-38 are two very different weapons.
The Breda is a 20 rounds rifle with below average damage (13.6 still enough to one hit down, usually) for its BR and almost no recoil. At BR4.
The SVT-38 is a 10 rounds rifle with 14.3 damage and average recoil but very fast recoil compared to its peers at BR3.

My impression of the SVT-38? 
Well, since you’re asking, it is a very nice BR4 semi auto masquerading as a BR3 semi auto. It either needs to be moved up to BR4, or given a stripper clip like “ALL THE OTHER BR3 FACTIONS”. However, with the Dev’s Soviet bias, this will never happen, just like they will never address the Soviet body armor bias, no matter how much players bitch about it.

Apparently, the Garand should also lose its magical clip, which works exactly like detachable magazines.
But joking aside, I’m all for all factions having BR3 rifles with detachable magazines.

Basically, my point is that their capabilities are similar (except for the magazine of course) which doesn’t make much sense given the caliber of both. Ideally, it would have been best to compare it to the SVT-40, but since that is also BR4, it wouldn’t have been as notable; the SVT-38, on the other hand, is BR3 and on top of that reloads using magazines rather than stripper clips, so the SVT38 shouldn’t be BR4?

Exactly. Speaking of which, the worst of the bunch is the Type 4; it handles even worse than the Garand. There are a lot of oddities in this game depending on the faction: SMGs with low fire rates and damage at high BRs, semi-autos with heavy recoil, planes with no bombs, and matchmaking that is very “fair” regarding tiers.

The Garand could certainly get a pass since the US doesn’t have semi-autos in BR4, but yeah, generally there should be a balance where reload speed depends more on perks than on the base stats themselves.
Seriously, I was pretty surprised when I used the SVT-38 for the first time, I even felt guilty using it, especially when I was up against players with BR2 bolt-action rifles.
All factions deserve the same rifle. Those with detachable magazines should have slightly reduced damage, while those with magazines should have higher damage.

That would be a good idea; in other words, the SVT-38 and the Garand shouldn’t deal more than around 13 points of damage, while the other two really just need an accuracy buff. Seriously, the Type 4 is even worse than the G41 that’s why I end up using the Type Hei instead; it has fewer rounds, but it’s better than missing the whole magazine or getting killed before you can even line up your sights.

Hiding both versions of the Type Hey with a 10 magazine in the Battle Pass was one of the worst decisions the developer made.

Yeah, those two made the most sense for the tech tree. The Type Hei (Late), for instance, could have even been a candidate for BR4,with a damage boost, obviously while the Type Hei (10) would be BR3, keeping the same damage as the current version but with a 5-round larger magazine.
Right now, the only thing that comes to mind for Japan at BR3 is the clip-fed ZH-29, and the ZH-32 for BR4, Germany could also use de 5 round version of the ZH-29 in BR2

Would it be the same one we have, or in Mauser caliber? That sounds good; the Otsu is good at close range given its sight, the German maybe is more practical since it has open sights but both are good rifles
the Breda Carcano has barely any recoil which allows it to be spammed much easier

That’s true; it’s definitely more comfortable to use than the SF models. My BR4 loadout, for instance, relies heavily on event gear which is the only way to gain any sort of edge against BR5s.
Regarding this, the Breda characteristics make sense given its caliber and the fact that it’s a truly rare weapon; like all event items, there wouldn’t be much point to it otherwise. The SVT-38, on the other hand, is a Tech Tree weapon; despite being BR3 and having a larger caliber, it performs quite similarly save for the 10-round difference in capacity.

Sadly that one is a Battle Pass only, there was a 5 round version too, but we already have 2 semi autos a BR3

Yeah, but it’s pretty good. One of my favorite semi autos in the game. I run it in my BR 3 & BR 5 JP lineups in a comms squad and it’s still perfectly serviceable at BR 5.
