Apparently, biased individuals have appeared in the development camp who are pushing updates to the Soviet side everywhere and leaking all the updates, which are kept secret.
But it doesn’t matter at all, they’ll introduce T44 100, but it will still be the weakest faction in the game with the weakest players, even if you upgrade their cuirasses and improve their AVS36. 
In that regard, yes, they are a decent alternative given the 15-round capacity; what is a bit annoying, though, is the noticeable horizontal recoil which is unusual for a rifle.
Belt feed AVS36 and a T34 front plate on the chest,sooner or later, maybe we going to see that.
Also the premium event item they just got is pretty broken; I’ve never seen a grenade launcher that powerful and with such range even the projectile speed is remarkable. Then again, they are Russians with vodka launchers on their rifles, so… you can still beat them or at least make them suffer.
