What defines a “vet”? I am 100% a Veteran player, played almost 4 years (The death of HnG hard point date but started before that) Multiple BR’s in every nation. Almost 100% event content (minus some crap ones). 1000’s of hours of play. So what would be the low bar of that definition? And, what would be the highest example of a Audie Murphy, Hayha, Rudel level of vet (All factors, combined at the highest level.)
All depends on who you ask…pre-merge with Legacy technically are the vets, but since console players didn’t have access pre-merge…it causes layers. I’ve been playing for several years post-merge with 3500 hours played, it’s definitely experience. There is definitely a grey area and a lot of differing opinions…but, completing all TTs, with significant time played should be a benchmark.
But this goes deeper between the PC vs console factions. PC could be around pre-merge so they have all of the legacy stuff…however it’s the console and Steam players making the game grow since a lot of PC players dropped after the merge.
That is why its such a great question. Is there levels or castes? Like is it possible that there are a group that thinks you are not a true vet unless you played BETA. Heroes and Generals was very much like that. The craziness of that game before it got organized was some amazing fun unbalanced chaos. I just started the thread because I saw someone banging on about how they finished a nation TT and lamented how the game was over. Its like OK Boomer! This game is never ending with the 100’s of squads. People take that shit seriously. We talk about this endlessly in our private forum group. I own 2 premiums we got people with 10+ some with 20 or more. So are they Snail vets for the investment? Elites for supporting the game?
I think you also point out a very good point Console players, considering 77% (current) consider pre merge to be a Vet trait. Pre Steam could also count for that. (What a shit show!) OMG that was a disaster for this game. I really wish they would let you buy unlimited items on Steam they would make a fortune with the starter parks and the extra 50 gold.

Seems that is a legit you are a Vet reason. Or at least Private level Vet. So we can all agree Steam only players are not vets? That is what I am gathering.
There are definitely strong opinions for sure…to me, the people who invest into the game are what keeps it afloat. There are lots of “veterans” who complain about the f2p game with nothing invested. So from a devs perspective, they should tailor to thse who invest.
This onion has many layers…
Pre-merge vs post-merge
F2p vs paid
pc vs console
Really? Than the marketing team SUCKS! This WWII game is right up my alley and would have played from day 1.
But not surprising, when I finally found it I was hacking around for a month trying to figure out how to play as the tutorial was brutal.
I had over 5k hours into HnG when this game started. I only found it because Heroes and Generals was getting cancelled. I came over with a ton of friends now all of them no longer play. But I have been as dedicated to playing Enlisted as I was to HnG. But I also play whatever I am buying onsale for GEForce now but always play Enlisted (Easy Red 2 does not replace this game, Nor does HLL the walking simulator)
That is why its a remarkable onion. I spend money on the game, but nowhere near the amount some people I play with do. Battle Pass is reoccuring, Yearly premium is cheap, I spent around 12$ for gold chests and 4x Starter packs on Steam. Outside that nothing more and spending that amount 100% worth it for a FTP game. The squad pricing is ridiculous but that is not a me thing because I do not buy them. I saw it as a Non vet game player (Is there one) a “green” vet player, a vet, a dedicated vet, Hardcore game vet and Elite maniac level vet (What would that be? You tube streamers?)
Technically I don’t mind spending during sales as some Premium do make a difference and this is the only game I have played for years so saves me buying other games…Gaijin pricing is bonkers though.
Maybe the experience and tactics used in game? Knowing the map is very helpful, you can make a decent strategy with that, but the skill is really something too, just look at the BR5 enjoyers, it’s like a daily walk for some of them XD
But are their layers? Or is it all or nothing? As in being a vet has little or no value or its a mark of dedication to a game. I regret not adding one other choice. IE You are not a “vet” unless you are a real “vet” just someone playing a fantasy WW2 shooter. But that should also be a obtuse fair argument because there are plenty of vets playing this game. Just the general population has a % add a skewer male demographic its got to be 25% plus. The reason why I add this is because tactics are important. Is still part of being a vet on the first time you signed into the game?
To be fair then the five year V should be the gold standard for that definition. But I think you can get that not playing the game V years. It would have to be some of those old school portrait badges not sure the number of Chinese new year ones? Dragon, Horse, Snake.
That is not me, I could not find a screen shot with all the different ones. That was surprising maybe some old school player with everything can SS all the different tags?
I don’t want to sound elitist. But I feel that if a player got to experience Enlisted before the merge, I think that at least makes you a veteran of the game, no doubt. Because that was the way Enlisted was originally presented to the public, before ‘Darkflow’ was disbanded. The campaign system and all that was scrapped later, many of Enlisted’s balance problems, and other gameplay quirks still stems from this initial progression system that the game was built upon. It’s pretty much the origin of everything we have. Yet despite all the new additions, shiny graphics, and fixes here and there, we still don’t have the return of the default sand camo and snow camo for Tunisia and Moscow respectively. AT guns also had it by default. If you remember that, that makes you a veteran.
At least that’s how I see it. I don’t like measuring a player’s veteran status in the game by how good they are, how many wins they have, how many kills, etc. For me, it’s about how far back they remember the game’s history. That’s my definition.
