Intensive work on a new machine gun caused a surge of similar designs in Germany in the 1920s.
As early as 1927, the manufacturer and gunsmith designer G. Vollmer proposed the HWaA mod.27 light machine gun, which operated on the principle of using recoil with a short barrel stroke, with locking-turning combat the larvae.
