Video samples of players using paratroopers to exploit matches

As the title says: Here are some gameplay clips from yesterday and today, demonstrating how elite paratroopers are being used by veteran players to exploit matches, and gain victories that would otherwise be defeats.

But first: What’s the definition of an exploit?

To use a situation so that you get benefit from it, even if it is wrong or unfair to do this

Why does this matter?
How are new players supposed to compete against veteran players who exploit the paratroopers?
-Veteran players have 1,000’s of matches played, and know every nook/corner of the map
-New players are focused on learning the mechanics of the game, map layouts, best strategies, etc
-New players get SLAUGHTERED by veteran paratroopers
-A.I. controlled squads get SLAUGHTERED by veteran paratroopers

First example: Paratroopers being deployed on top of the barn. (We captured, and eventually won the match).

Second Example: D-Day Normandy. The match just started, and an attacking paratrooper squad, spawns behind the objective

Third Example: Same match, 2nd objective. Attacking paratroopers syncronize their deployment with the movement of the objective point. Thus, racing and beating the defenders. (Capturing the flag in approximately 60 seconds).

Fourth Example: Paratroopers land directly ontop of me, in retaliation for killing the player’s previous squad.

Fifth example: Elite paratroopers deploying directly ontop of the enemy, causing confusion, and then a slaughter. After being brought down to ZERO tickets, we won the match because this playerwas exploiting the paratrooper squad (timing and at key moments)

And here’s another example from a few days ago: Paratroopers deploying at the edge of the grey zone, near opposite team’s spawnpoint). Imagine what this type of player can do to new and intermediate players. How is this fair for them?

Normandy is fun when there aren’t paratroopers in the roster.
Normandy is dogwater, when paratroopers are being utilized.

Paratroopers for attacking team in Normandy = Victory (doesn’t seem to matter if it’s allies or axis).

Not enough players + stacked teams + A.I. controlled squads + paratrooper exploit = Boring matches/waste of time.

And if you don’t want to play Normandy… Berlin is often empty and barren

botss

But hopefully the new progression system fixes everything :face_in_clouds:

Suggestion for paratroopers:
-Add a 60-90 delay between capture points, and give the defending team a chance re-group/build defenses.
-It’s very lame that paratroopers can instantly spawn/drop ontop of an objective (the moment it moves).
-Don’t allow paratroopers to spawn/drop closer than 40m to the objective (just like we can’t build a rally point closer than 40m)
-Don’t allow paratroopers to spawn near the opposite team’s greyzone.

Maps are configured in a square.
Which has four sides…
Battles are dominately fought on 3 sides,
With the 4th side being friendly spawn/reinforcments.
Paratroopers are forcing battles to be fought on all FOUR SIDES.
Matches are only 10 vs 10 (often with A.I. controlled squads)
Team compositions/size are often poorly balanced, which makes 4-sided battles awful. (also, the maps are small)

First off, this has to be the first time someone gets mad and complains on the forum for being carried to victory.

Second, most of the things you mentioned appear to be legit (and smart) tactical use of paratroopers, bar a few exceptions like capturing from above the roof (that’s indeed BS) and landing inside cap before defenders can get there. Both will hopefully get fixed.

Other than that, have you actually got the paras squads from the current event? Have you tried playing them?

After 3,000 matches, I don’t care about winning or losing. But rather, I care about high-quality matches.

The battlefield is a chessboard, and the only way to gain victory is to outperform/maneuever/outwit your enemy, as a team effort.
But with Paratroopers, they simply bypass game-strategy/defenses/detection/time it takes to traverse the map… and they simply pop-up anywhere.

I’ve been playing video games for over 2 decades… where combining all online matches ever played, we’re talking in the tens of thousands (maybe over 100,000 matches played)…
With that many games, winning and losing is just a blur. It doesn’t matter.
Why? Because it’s just a video game, and winning/losing doesn’t alter the real-world whatsoever.

Yeah, maybe if we were playing a Modern Warfare era FPS.
But we’re playing a WW2 genre video game… and paratroopers were not utilized in a way that this game has implemented them.

The paratroopers in Enlisted, are entirely fantasy.

Why the F*** are there paratroopers on D-Day beach landing?
Why are there paratroopers landing behind the sea-wall of the beach’s defenses (ahead of the infantry coming from the boats)
Why are paratroopers falling on top of bunkers?

No. Because I haven’t touched the Pacific campaign. I don’t have a single match played on that front.
I also have the Japanese tank unlocked from a previous event. (never used it).

I have both event paras and these are yet another game-braking mechanics devs added because: gMaE nEeDs mOrE cOnTeNat

-Limited team commands/requests
-There’s no “yes” or “affirmative” option (so when a teammate asks for ammo, you can’t say “affirmative”)
-On Conquest mode/Assault/Destruction, there used to be commands such as “Attack objective A” or “Attack Objective B” or “Attack Objective C”…
-But now we only have “Attack objective”

well, i more or less agree.

but i wouldn’t consider paras exploitative.

just too convinient.

nothing that a delayed spawn ( of one min before being able to use them. like airplanes spawn ) and extend the distance that the plane will have to travel before reaching the battlefield wouldn’t solve.

as… you didn’t really incorporated a suggestion in this… semi-rant.

EDIT: i only saw now your edit.
and… eh… i guess those would work too.

I do agree they open alot of doors.

But I also have eyes to see the problem ain’t paras, but people playing against them that haven’t adapter yet.

But, I won’t be the one changing no one’s mind, I like paras, they fun

I fixed it. Added suggestion to the bottom of the OP.

Well now you killed one of the class main purpose, well i guess they still will be good for flanking but some things seems biased to me or more like hatred, i don’t know how good or bad paras in normandy since they are 60 bucks but i would say that in the pacific they are fine, open map etc, i saw how our plane squad wiped paras by bombs and they haven’t even landed.
Anyway i will agree that their planes should be marked, warned about, take more time to deliver them into battlefield, but not other 2 suggestions because you literally make them more like riflemen but with extra steps.

This class could be better implemented if the maps were bigger, and their landing area restricted to open spaces on the map (paratroopers didn’t deploy on buildings, just like they didn’t deploy over forests. Unless they wanted to get injured).
Bigger maps + more players = more immersive / more strategy / bigger battles
And restrict paratroopers out of objective zone/opposing team grey-zone/border area.

As you say…

And as others said, paras aren’t the absolute devil. They only need SOME KIND of restrictions to prevent uncounterable tactics.

Capping from rooftops? Definitely unfair, must go.

Getting on obj before defenders? Not fair, but a simple delay and/or longer flight time can fix that.

But for the rest… It’s a slippery slope. If we start piling up more and more restrictions on where and when paras can drop, they’ll eventually lose their main reason to even be in game, and become yet another forgotten mechanic like motorbikes.

Oh God, oh no, oh please don’t say that you are from big immersive map sect, i mean yeah there paras would have more sense there but it would make high pace game to slow down, which is not very nice, i would say that slowing down their appearance and a little pause before continue attacking sectors would be nice and i guess will balance enough paras

That’s all true.

With my posts regarding paratroopers, I’m not implying that they get removed or NERF’d beyond measure. I’m simply griping about their current status, and the ability for veteran players to exploit their capabilities.

If the goal is to increase the player-base for the game (as a whole), then it’s very important to balance the game in a way that new players will enjoy playing (who have not yet invested money into premium content).

Player-retention is a critical element in the game’s success, and if new players/intermediate players are constantly getting stomped on by veteran players with premium squads like paratroopers… do you think that these players will stick around for very long?

And if they do stick around… are they going to be willing spend hundreds of dollars in order to compete with the players who are decked out?

The paratroopers aren’t the source of the problem… they are simply an addition to a long list of issues withstanding (depending on your own perspective).
Of which, I’ve already discussed these issues in other posts/threads.
And the solutions.

Everybody has their own preference of gaming.

For me, I’m not interested in 10 minute matches.

Literally every squad except riflemen with BA could be considered broken if used by good player properly/efficiently/effectively.

I guess people like yourself want everyone to just play bolt actions 24/7. Because it’s most fair, no explosions, no aoe, no armor. :man_shrugging: This never ending crying about everything new/everything fullauto/everything different/or everything that can CC, is just super lame and annoying.
You can pretty much counter everything except WP or flame on destruction objetive during countdown.

SUBJECT: Paratroopers—OP or not?

I’m not a veteran, and the only paratrooper squads I have are in the Pacific from the free event.

I got rolled hard by a bunch of Chinese players on one of the Pacific maps because they were using paratroopers; of course, we lost the match. But, we didn’t lose because of the paratroopers: We lost because we had a bad team. In fact, most defense matches are lost because team members won’t get on point to defend—paratroopers or not.

I believe paratroopers are a good addition to the game: They create an additional challenge for the defenders (who must adapt to the new environment involving paratroopers), and new opportunities regarding strategies and tactics for the attackers. Plus, running everywhere can get tiresome on some of the larger maps; so dropping with paratroopers eases that chore quite a bit. In addition, they add a bit of fun to the game—which is, of course, one of the main reasons for playing in the first place.

Saying that paratroopers are OP is no different than saying that “flame” squads are OP, or pilots, or some other squad. Each squad in this game has both strengths and weaknesses. Used in the wrong way or at the wrong time, every squad that is considered OP in this game will be wiped out fairly quickly. Paratroopers popping up anywhere is one of their strengths—which is a very good reason for using them. They’re not, “bypassing game-strategy/defenses/detection.” You need to keep an eye out for them and act accordingly.

I’ve seen posts in the forum stating that tanks in this game are OP—which couldn’t be further from the truth if you’ve ever played other games with tanks that are much stronger than in this game. So it’s a matter of opinion when it comes right down to it.

Anyway, like them or not, paratroopers are here to stay. So I suggest you adapt your tactics in order to deal with them.

RE: Veterans vs. New Players: Veterans will always prevail over new players regardless of any changes made to the game for the simple reason, “They know the game.” The most important things for a new player to learn to get better are:

  1. Learn the maps!

  2. Learn common traffic paths used by players on the maps to move from point to point.

  3. Learn the weapons.

  4. What is required to win? Capping? Killing? Etc. Many players simply don’t understand that capping (or defending cap points by being on the cap point) is key to winning. Almost every defense battle that I’ve lost is because players simply won’t get on point to defend (or cap when attacking)—which has absolutely nothing to do with paratroopers.

Anyway, in my opinion, the paratroopers are doing exactly what paratroopers should do. This means that sometimes you will lose a game due to the strengths that paratroopers possess. Of course they’re going to land behind enemy lines and you have to defend all four directions—which is a change in the game. That means you need to change your tactics to deal with it. Just my opinion, and I know many will disagree.
