in real life, flamethrowers threw napalm and other flamable liquids that were on fire
in most games this is not portrayed, instead flamethrowers are essentially giant lighters
i think it would boost enlisted’s popularity and reputation for historical accuracy if flamethrowers acted in game behaved in a similar fashion to those in real life
i think this could be balanced by reducing the flamethrower’s damage radius
ive attempted to demonstrate what this feature will allow IF implemented
This will technically be a buff because it could allow you to hit players in more creative ways, also when your firing your flamethrower at its max range but aiming horizontally the flame jet wont just evaporate it will actually hit the ground and deny the enemy that area.
It’d be cool if we could burn foliage and wooden structures using the flamethrower. Or having things catching fire for longer. I do think they could use a buff. Having a more pronounced arched trajectory would be interesting.
Lets not forget that flame throwers shoot flames that are roughly 1,800 degrees F, which is what deceased bodies are cremated at. I would imagine that NO ONE in real life is going to return fire when being torched at 1,800 degrees, and NO ONE should be surviving that to be able to shoot back. I don’t use flame throwers much, but it is shocking how many times I get shot by someone who is being incinerated. It just ain’t happening in real life and shouldn’t happen in the game.
in real life flame throwers were slow and cumbersome able to sweep the battle field but walking fire put the flamer at more risk than the enemy, i have yet to see someone who can move at more than a crawl while blowing flame, flame throwers were used against intrenched position with poor visibility not like they are used in enlisted with the ability to cloak from view behind their own flames. so yes in real like if you could get close enough to say a bunker it was liquid death but nothing like the smg hybrid we have in the game.
I have to keep walking sideways when I am flaming people in the hopes that someone who’s getting their nuts barbecued doesn’t zero in on me. In real life the pain would be so excruciating, not to mention you literally would not be able to see through the flames as your eyes are roasting that returning fire would be a non starter.
Isnt the damage radius for flamethowers already ass?
So nerfing that even more will make them even more unreliabale as it becomes even harder to ignite multiple targets in a room quickly.
Rather, in “War Thunder”, the Churchill Crocodile was already capable of doing this. It could even create a Spitfire fuel model to be attached to the tank for firing. However, it wouldn’t harm friendly tanks. Or the engines of enemy tanks, but it could deal devastating blows to open-top tanks. When would DF be able to copy and paste like this? At present, it seems that this thing is extremely powerful for some housing spaces. If the defense positions are some houses, they are often easily broken through quickly. So I’m thinking if the Spitfire could regain its previous freedom of movement strength, would it be necessary to limit only two Spitfire squads on the field to return to their peak performance?
i think thats a good idea, and i completely forgot about WT flamethrower
today’s Flame squads are arguably just worse assaulters, assaulters can very often clear out buildings and kill enemies faster and more effectively than flamers
yes on fire you would not see through it, but just being in front of it you the flame trooper would not be rendered invisible and have to be blind fired. yes the flame thrower does to little damage, on the other hand its to easily used that is to easy to move while using to easily able to change directions, it needs to be heavily nerfed for its movement before its damage can be increased or at the same time.
yes you can move then use it then move in real life, no you cannot fire it while moving and not crawl. in fact most flame throwers were used while completely immobile.
