Commanders, outdated versions of sound modifications can cause performance issues and in some cases may even lead to game crashes. Players themselves have no way of identifying that the problem lies in one of their installed sound modifications.
At the moment, we are trying to find a solution that will allow us to detect malfunctioning modifications on the client side before they can cause any issues.
Until such a solution is found, we are forced to disable sound modifications. We hope that you understand our decision.
Other changes
Returned the missing vehicle camouflages that disappeared with the “Hidden Threat” update.
So the developers finally realized the problem with their existing sound mod system (not that I can think/make a better one)
And then they decide to (temporarily) kill off every sound mod, even the good ones … only because they didn’t bother to look at the problem in the distant past, and that it snow-balled into a big issue today
I have been busy making instructions to help Modders update their sound mods:
And then this happens right as I have just started … I really have no words
From a technical stand point, however, I know this must be done
As I technical person myself, I am well aware that it will cause a ton of issues such as crashing the client etc.
Technically, disabling sound mod is the safest and fastest way to instantly prevent those issues, I just hope they will figure it out soon
And finally, I am not one of those internet haters, so I am able to appreciate things.
The step that the developers are talking right now is very important to push the game mod support forward, and I personally appreciate this step (just not really the approach)
" and that was the last time modifications were ever seen again ".
all to say,
Work together and actually document the various changes done to sound mods and warn the actual modders through the mods dedicated discord ( or forum ) section :
Remove them entirely with a mere " sorry " neglecting the fact that it destroyed countless of hours of work done by modders, and don’t even warn them what was changed after each update:
This guide is of course super helpful, but it’s unrealistic to expect everyone to find and check the exact guide on how to update them, or more likely even that they would be able to immediately update them each and every time an update drops. Yourself and some of the other dedicated modders might indeed do so, of course, but even then this requires you to update them immediately to prevent people logging in to try out updates having issues and not understanding why, which is unfair to expect of you too.
The developer approach is trying to find a solution to detect them and some way to make this clear to players or solve the issue ourselves for the future to prevent performance issues/game crashes without players using the mods realizing why, not to remove modifications altogether.
Hello, does that include console hard freeze, although I have closed my app and reopened Enlisted on Ps5 after 3 matches, haven’t had any issues as yet.
Well you know there are people (like me) who is inert to sarcasm, and its @MajorMcDonalds 's duty to make sure nobody take the sentence’s meaning wrongly
Did the developers mention in more details about what those “performance issues” might be and what (in particular) might have caused them?
(I am just curious, if nothing you can tell, then ignore)
