Type 92 10 cm cannon as Japanese high BR AT gun

Unfortunately, Japan didn’t have a powerful 75mm gun during WW2, however, there is a solution, A 10cm gun that has a average rate of fire(6-8shot/m), it could penetrate nearly 175mm of armor at 100m.Most importantly, the mass width(1.88 m)is narrower than the Pak 40(2.08 m) and the QF 17-pounder(2.2 m).In my opinion, it would be the most balanced option for Japan.

Do you want Japan get the Type 92 10 cm cannon to replace the Pak40?

  • Yes, it should replace the Pak 40.
  • No, just keep the Pak 40.
  • No, I have better option(leave a comment).

Unfortunately the Type 92 105mm was used primarily used as field artillery, so I’m only aware of it firing low-velocity HE and HEAT shells that probably couldn’t break through 100mm of armor.

I found a post recently on the War Thunder reddit talking about a Japanese licensed copy of the 75mm PaK 41, designated Type Ge. It could fire PzGr.41 APCR shells with ~210mm penetration at 100 meters which would be needed in order to deal with high BR tanks.

So far the AT guns in Enlisted have done a good job of sticking to historical realism when it comes to what shells are fired from them and the armor penetration values. For Japan we would have to choose between a historically accurate prototype or making up shells to accommodate the Type 92 105mm field gun.

I lean towards the Type Ge, but the community should decide what fits best.

Wonderful find, I think this is more suitable as AT guns, the Type 92 is too large to ambush the enemy.

Not really, it could fire the Type 2 APHE which is the same round as the one use in Ho-Ri. But of course it will have lower muzzle velocity than Ho-RI, so it will have lower penetration. I don’t know the exact muzzle velocity when firing this round, but it won’t be “low velocity” as you said consider this gun has muzzle velocity of 765m/s.

I didn’t know that. I think at that muzzle velocity it would put the penetration around 175mm @ 100m, which could frontally penetrate just about any of their opponent’s tanks if it struck a flat enough surface.

I just meant low velocity in the context of late-war AT guns. Most were pushing close to 1000m/s in order to achieve that kind of penetration with the M5 being an exception.

If we assume it has 765m/s when firing this round, it will have 159mm penetration @ 0m.

(Of course this is a rough estimation since I don’t have the exact muzzle velocity.)

Sure, But give it AP only.

No reason you should get a 100mm HE lob AT cannon just because you’re playing japan… unless you give all the other factions high caliber AT guns.

Eh, Idm if Japan gets a little extra with their AT gun, would certainly be thematic at least.

I don’t think the HE will be an issue, the reloading speed is nearly 10 seconds, or just buff the ROF but and give the same HE damage as the 75mm gun.

Hm. And why should japan continue to get special treatment? Ohhh… is it because their faction is so neglected? :frowning:

Because it will lead to a push for balance in the future, namely a new mortar squad which can either get an engineer upgrade to make a heavy mortar or field gun of some sorts.

I don’t see how them getting a rather large caliber AT cannon is relevant to buffing mortar squads.

Furthermore there is no need for field guns… while i don’t necessarily care about HE spam in general i don’t think we need more.

Or… instead of giving it to only one faction… you give one to all factions at once.

Yeah give them all a field gun of sorts, something to compare to this.

Also ngl, people complaining about towable AT guns being HE spammers, genuinely have you never used one? Apart from the limited ammo, there is also the fact they are particularly easy to kill, a single AT rifle round one shots it, also killing whoever was on it.

No. I don’t pity myself with stationary objects… but i’ve encountered them plenty of times… some people are adamant on only doing it… i don’t desire to waste AT slot with an AT rifle in 5 on the off chance i find someone who’s a fan of this.

Ammo count? Not like that’s relevant when you can have a squad of 6 engis constantly refilling it.

I mean… Just dont wiff your rockets then? Also your sleeping on not taking an AT Rifle, even at BR5, its a great way to harass tanks, just knock out the track and kill the crew member that gets out to repair, that or the standard AA duty, at least for the soviets and japanese, solothurn has other issues and is limited, and the boys is just a bit depressing to use.

This thing is too weak to be consider as a high br at gun. It couldn’t even penetrate the hull armor of T-34 and Sherman on br3.

I don’t know what you are trying to argue about.
