This is going to be a fun one as its two for the price of i and a needed alternative as Japan has only one option. A single type 89 at br4 weighing only 31 pounds. 750 rounds per minute with a 90 round magazine it be great at br3 for an event or tech tree. the second would be the 89 flex with 1500 rounds per minute and 2 90 round magazines. this is the rub what if they could be fired and reloaded one at a time allowing continuous fire or both at the same time allowing overwhelming fire. of course you cant reload and fire at the same time.

I mean it’s no Te-4 but it is cool. Japan did make a habit of ripping MGs and cannons off planes towards the end of the war. Maybe there’s some picture out there somewhere if this thing with a handguard and a pistol grip. I think it’s fine because again, we already have the prone only 1919 in the US tree.
The dual barrel flexible point feeds from two. 45 round quadrant pans, sometime referred to as “fan pans”. They hold 45 rounds each. This means the flexible dual gun would have only 90 rounds total. Still would be an interesting item for the tree.
Also apparently the Te-4 is a single barreled version of the type 89. So would the single variant we’re looking at here be added as pretty much another Te-4 but with 45 rounds?
I’d like to also ad that the Te-4 isn’t strictly just one half of a type 89. The Te-4 lacks the ability to use the 45 round fan. It was explicitly redesigned to use the 69 round pan. There were a number of “Frankenguns” taken off aircraft though. Quite literally a single type 89 receiver divorced from its other hand and still using the 45 round fan.
