Tunisia

Tunisia - dreadful Tunisia if you’re playing as the Italians. I dunno if this is a luck thing like when playing as the Italians, we might stand a chance if the opposing side doesn’t have a large tank…

If they do, which they always do, there’s almost zero chance of holding them back. It’s almost comical if it weren’t so futile and frustrating.

When I switched to the British to see if it’s just my inability and maybe just the weaponry or something , I spent the first game played sparsely moving and just sitting by the objective in the starter tank , expending thousands of bullets from the machine gun wiping out literally hundreds of enemy soldiers without even trying.

They couldn’t do anything about my tank. The game ended with me resting neatly at top a small mound of over 280 dead Italian troops.
They had no anti tank capabilities to speak of. Grenades? What will those do but make a dull thump! on the ground outside my vehicle.
Ah, wait! Th-they have th-that armoured car right? The main gun can surely do something right? No. If one has the luck to score a penetrating hit and it actually DO something, I would recommend they stop playing, and purchase lottery tickets as soon as possible as theyre likely to win many jackpots at once.

Yeah main gun is a joke. It overheats very easily, has a very very limited magazine and no ability to be useful against soft targets. It’s great for making noise, ringing in the new year, or drawing fire from the enemy side of every corner of the tsunami-like line of contact. The tiny magazine for the main gun that doesn’t mag dump likes to be reloaded twice or so it feels. I spend more time waiting for reloads and overheats than actually shooting at anything moving. The machine gun has a laughably small magazine as well and the rounds lack any semblance of stopping power. Its ability to even behave like a rapid firing , stabilized automatic firearm is pathetic. It’s reload is kinda funny cos the sound is the typical changing of a mag, but then it continues clinking clicking chh-chh’ing , and the frustrated loader shouting in Italian.

But then it pauses briefly and suddenly continues again with the hurried, frustrated, frantic clicking clanking and slapping and sliding and clacking of stamped/machined metal parts as I imagine the poor under fed, dehydrated, terrified, exhausted, hysterical loader fighting with the slowly but surely loading “machine gun”.
The reload goes through a second series of this after the first and THEN the gun is loaded and charged, ready to fire another magazine of 8 or 9 rounds at below 20rpm with a rather pedestrian muzzle velocity of I’m guessing below 50 meters /s.
The armament in the Italian armored car would do more damage if I slowly fed it to the enemy or just unbolted it from the frame of the vehicle and THREW it at them along with handfuls of its underpowered , low velocity otherwise useless ammunition.

Honestly if I just played the tank crew instead, and ditched the vehicle someplace far away, I think that would do more harm to the enemy.

The rest of the combat teams of the Italians in the Tunisia campaign are woefully inadequate and not suited to fight at all under any conditions.

The rifles are awful, the submachineguns are even worse and the DIY smoke grenades make it quite clear the italians should be REMOVED from the game entirely.

The best rifle in their inventory is a slightly cut down version of a German rifle (that irl I find is a joy to shoot btw) of WW1 vintage. And you have to buy/equip everyone with it as it’s a rifle the Germans start with but not the Italians heh. That don’t sit right with me for some reason. Anyway, why not just remove them and maybe add partisan campaign in eastern Europe or maybe another eastern front hotspot like Rzhev (I know i butchered it) or Market garden or something else where it’s a little more balanced as far as each side has the ability to return fire and kill one another instead of it just being an absolute one sided slaughter.

I love the challenge don’t gemme wrong, I like the difficulty being impossible but this is just dysmal and depressing. It would be nice to see the Italian armored car weaponry have at least a slim chance to strike fear into the enemy…

As I began reading your post, I thought I was reading an IGN column.

The enemy team is nearly full of players, axis would be lucky to have half their players.

Gear isnt problem.

Sometimes theres just too many players to deal with…but sometimes they need all the help they can get

Léo Major? Got some reading to do today

Yes. He was just… very balsy, didn’t really know how to stop either. Got wounded so many times, even lost an eye but forced (!) his superior to let him continue sniping.

The silliest is when he freed an entire village with a German garrison, with just 1 buddy, some smgs and many grenades. He used those simply to make a lot of noise during the night, simulating a full fledged assault. German garrison all surrendered… and by morning the allies were a bit flabbergasted to see coming a long procession of PoW guarded only by 1 man and his smgs… It’s one of the versions at least. In others, Germans simply all fled. but the result is always that he freed the place alone…

I’m not that balsy in life. I doubt you can find many that are :stuck_out_tongue:

Balsy or raving mad :stuck_out_tongue:

I just finished listening to the story of the “Star of Africa” (Joachim Marseille). I had no idea and Top gun is one of my favourite movies…this guy is literally “Maverick”, only crazier.

if interested this 2 part Clips on youtube covers him pretty competely. Part 2 is absolutely insane. Recommend (ofcourse I havent verified but was still a good listen)

I love historical videos such as this footage. I wish we could have historical paint with all the corresponding sigils and insignia… I know it won’t happen due to present world being offended by everything, but I hope one day we will be able to use our own custom personal paints (only visible to the user). I’m not afraid of a crooked windmill icon. It’s what, simply was…

tldr
but the major problem with tunisia is the shit map designs that has been present in the game since i started playing
and it dosent help that the game trys to force at minimum 50 troops/180 at max into a 2 story house as it is a objective, all the objective areas should be increase 2.5 fold

Was a symbol of peace until some asshole got a hold of it…

I just love history, and the stories and playing a game is just delving into that history for me. Pitty when markings are removed for sensitivity. But anyway…world we live in

To make an accurate comparison on how ridiculous censorship is today, it would be like if you want to portray 16th century pirates, you have to remove the skull and bones from the black flag. cause it’s offensive, pirates were meany baddies.
I wonder what triggered all of this. Anyway. there’s mods still, thankfully.

That’s news to me but as someone who had the opportunity to study caribbean pirates on college with first and second hand documentation the problem with the black flag is that it is so fucking overused on media and lost all meaning.

It was a communication device and wasn’t the only pattern of flag used (not even for what it meant) and even it’s significance varied deeply over the centuries.

So I see the “there’s no issue to use it” crowd as the same as the “it’s offensive to use it” crowd (heard you love equivalencies). Both lost completely on the historical significance of the symbology in question and want to use it just to further advance personal political agendas without any care for the historiography of the subject.

The thing about Tunisia is the fact that nobody buys the pz ivj gold order, it it 10 times more survivable than Italian ab41, which I see a lot of players using, better that M41 italian tank too. When I was grinding Tunisia ( when allies just got Thompson) it was tough but Pz J made a difference.
I use the pzIII premium and cas to take out Sherman’s, grants, but a lot of players are still lover level and that’s why it can be a slaughter.

Cant use The Panzer IV F2 until LvL 32. I got it for the looks. waiting to get to 32

I Got the Panzer III J at lvl 18. that gets the job done somewhat.

It is because less players is not the cause.
I think people often mentioned that Tunisia Axis isnt worth to grind. Not even because of the effectiveness (which is mostly okayish or better or worse depending on the said level) but that at the end you are grinding for a couple of planes and rifles because you can get around 90% of the stuff elsewhere/ get most of the unique stuff early enough.
