I remember Enlisted was a paid game in the first place.
However, by the user vote, four Campaigns (Berlin wasn’t revealed though) have been promised to be Free to Play. Now they are done, and Stalingrad shows the direction that Enlisted originally seeks.
I think of Stalingrad as a “DLC”, not part of the “Free to Play” game. and I think it is a “Free Trial” that is open to free players. For Paid Users, Stalingrad is a much cheaper and more reasonable campaign compared to traditional Campaign models. You can enjoy more with less payment!
Developers are not volunteers, and they also need to make profit. and Most users want to pay less for more things. I think Stalingrad can be seen as a “compromise” that satisfies both most of the users and developers.
The game company Darkflow is not a charity…They are also a profit-seeking group that needs to make money…There are many people in the forum who think that the charge of Stalingrad is not appropriate, but I think it’s rather good, and I really like the campaign this time.
Dudes you gotta understand that Stalingrad will be underpopulated. After all the F2p have tried it and paid access unlocked everything theyll leave grinding out other campaigns, and only periodically come back.
The lack of players is going to be a really big problem in Stalingrad
Exactly. they need to make profit from the game, it’s their job! F2P users are also users, but they eventually won’t be that much help running the game. Game runs with Users who pay for the game, not F2P users.
However, if dev want to attract paid for once players, the 30USD’s content has to be worth it. Because now, we can compared this directly to other games.
To clarify, I see people always call any contents “P2W” when it’s not free, but it makes them a beggar. A shameless beggar.
“P2W” means ‘Pay 2 win’. It’s about game giving you a mean to dominate your opponents with money. P2W game offers you a cheat, or it constantly blocks your way to victory if you are free player. But if payment is only about QoL features of the game, it’s not P2W. Because the game DOES NOT offer you the win for money. It’s Free-to-play.
What aspect of Stalingrad is about P2W? It’s more like good old retro expansion pack style rather than ‘Free-to-play’ nowdays.
I’m sick of these people, so let me clarify, once and for all - people calling this game P2W just because it’s not free are beggar, and their so-called opinion worth nothing.
Exactly! Stalingrad is more like a Stand-alone DLC. it costs 30$, with good new maps and contents, and with some free trials for some “Free - to - play” users. this is how the Enlisted was supposed to be.
Yup, let’s give it a try. I’m all for it.
Anyway, I hate those beggars calling everything P2W. Don’t blame stuff just because you can’t afford it. It’s Free-to-play and payment is optional.
Literally all the campaigns are underpopulated, the only difference will be that Stalingrad will have a huge uptick in players for a short bit then end up like Tunisia/Berlin where on certain days one side has more players then the other, like what’s happened every time a new campaign released
One of the issues is that the vast majority of the playerbase is F2P, and that’s true of nearly every F2P game in existence. Stalingrad being very anti-F2P with it’s locked levels severely hurts F2P players, and thus a majority of the playerbase. Yes, the devs need to make money, but they also need to balance that with a healthy playerbase because both are needed to sustain the game.
This whole thing coudlve been avoided by just having all levels be unlockable. Anyone who was going to buy Stalingrad was going to buy it regardless of those locked levels, and all that’s happened is that F2P players are now pissed off
Alright, here’s the rub for y’all saying Stalingrad is more like a DLC or paid expansion rather than more F2P content.
DLCs cost money to access, full stop. Not some, all content behind a paywall. I’d have no problem with Stalingrad being paid DLC. Shit, I’d have had no issue with avoiding the P2W stuff by making the game P2P to begin with, making it F2P hasn’t done much I can see to increase player numbers.
Stalingrad is what you get when a company isn’t hiding that they want your money, but still feel like they need to trick you into giving it to them. New campaign, but we don’t think people will pay $30 for 1/5th of a game still in beta? Hell, lets let all of them have access for free, but lock most of the best or most fun content behind a $30 paywall! That way, we’re getting money from at least the players with the worst impulse control.
DF has to make money for the game to survive, sure. They could also make a game that’s enjoyable for new players and vets, free and paid, and have actually worthwhile microtransactions instead of adding new/more expensive monetization every time they give the playerbase something we want.
As far as P2W in Stalingrad, I’m not sure there’s a lot of it. I might think locking almost half of the campaign behind a paywall is shitty, but most of what’s locked (other than the MKB42 and PPSH) isn’t overwhelmingly better than what’s available for free, but I think it’s also fair to recognize where those instances of P2W exist. At least in stalingrad, the P2W/Pay for convenience elements aren’t hidden costs, like the previous campaigns.
yeah other than the MKB and PPSH (and barely the PPSH, the PPS slaps), I don’t really think it’s P2W. Honestly even with that I dont think it’s P2W. Maybe for the average player but with the bolt action buff I’m pretty sure many people could do just fine with the starting gear
Yeah, I think it’s fair to say that it’s possible to pay to win, but overall the game isn’t really, and even the possible pay-to-win scenarios are just an added advantage to people already running with a big one. I’m talking about button-sync multi-group discords getting two or three player squads into the same game. When they pull it off, they OWN, and they’ll do better with better gear on top of the coordination. 9 squads loaded down with top-tier autoweapons, all communicating? Win. Possible without paying for it? Sure.
I’d still rather have seen Stalingrad entirely locked behind a paywall. Would eliminate any accusation of pay-to-win in that campaign, and wouldn’t feel like a drug dealer giving you the first taste for free.
