This is a perfect example of why desertion penalties need fixed. I was just queuing to play the Japanese, 16 seconds in when I am joining the battle do I get a network interruption error and get kicked out of the game. It asks if I want to send the error report, which I did before restarting the game…which takes a while. When I finally get back in, it doesn’t ask if I want to rejoin and realize that the reason I was is that developers did an update to the change log for the pathetically expensive cut and paste WT tanks and the weapon BR changes update…yet I am the one who is penalized??? Devs got me booted and I get the penalty? ONLy people who intentionally leave the match should be penalized.

Should just remove it… i still continue to leave EVERY game mode/map i don’t like.
Which the counterpart addition being map preference doesn’t help whatsoever.
Most people who do this and or abuse desertions have all of tech tree unlocked which makes the penalty redundant and only a placebo for the people who wanted it so bad to finally shut up.
Then… it only lead to people didn’t deserve it like DC and other things even getting it after you’ve completed a game which along with someone here it has also happened to me.

I’m with you…but even though I’m done my tech trees I still have to level up a few squads and the extra silver helps. There is a LOT that needs reworked here for sure…maybe if we changed the name to Enlisted Thunder, War Enlisted, Dark Enlisted or Enlisted MATERs…devs would fix it.

well if the -20% isn’t working maybe they can change it to a time out timer lol. if they leave 1 match they just get a warning saying repeated desertions will lead to X amount of time unable to play a public match on the 2nd desertion it will give a 5 min time out, on the third one it will give a 10 mins and 4th and byond it would be a 15-20 min desertion time out. so if you do get do have bad internet it would just stop you from playing LOL and better yet if you get back to back maps you dont like it’ll stop you from playing the game and end up missing events LOL. complaining about the -20% isn’t gonna make them take it out they’ll just add something else onto it

In this case online will just drop even more.
Just imagine when someone is telling you that you can’t leave because of the issue, which wasn’t resolved by devs, but it’s you who should suffer.
Like the issue, mentioned by @Ianciafiamme-live, where you just can’t choose mode/map. Is it my problem? No, it’s devs responsibility to give me an ability to choose, so if they can’t - I need to do it by myself.
Their reason - game have not enough online, my reason - I want to play as I want, I’m not a cow to eat what my owner gives me…
So that’s why timeout is not a way.
You should motivate ppl to overcome problems, like leavers/bots, instead of treating them as criminal scum.

The DC penalty is one the most cowardice thing game devs can do. Instead of figuring a way to look into why people are dcing, they just try to punish those people who dc. I’m absolutely certain that most dcs are from the defending side and they dc after they saw first 3 points had been taken when the attacking side still has 800 or more tickets.
Game devs and the team of this game are just bad.

I only leave matches when I’m not historically correct for the battle
My current standard (at the moment) is year. No 1945 weapons and vehicles in 1942, etc etc
I don’t care about the other players running around with who knows what but I at least like to have my little shreds of immersion
yes but a -20% desertion penalty isn’t going to ruin the game for you when you can stack a free 50% bonus onto of it to cancel it out. having connection issues isn’t always the servers fault unless a lot of people mention it at the same time.
I was just giving a example on another type of desertion penalty because supposedly -20% ruined their day on enlisted because they lost connection and for people leaving certain maps would know the outcome if they do since its been there for a while now and obviously it isn’t about the exp since they decided to leave a bad map to look for another map
the devs can’t control your internet lol. it isn’t always their fault when someone gets disconnected from a match because its random. they’re aren’t trying to punish people that lose connection to a match they’re trying to minimize the amount of people leaving matches in the middle of the battle and they simply can’t tell the difference between a disconnection issue or just leaving a match so those people unfortunately gets the -20%
Punishment for dcing deliberately or unintentionally is absolutely stupid. both minus whatever amount or time out timer whatsoever. Implementing these measures will only make the game lose the player base faster.
Most people play this game for enjoyment and fun. If they decide it is no longer fun for them they should be free to leave. They will stay if they decide it is fun and worth their time.

the game does need a penalty for desertion because people enjoy leaving matches half way through their match making other people lose a close match that could have been won
you are free to leave matches lol. youll just end up with a -20% that isnt to big to matter overall and wont make your game less fun it’ll just make you grind more often.
the time out was a example of another type of penally they could have added since -20% ruins the game for them

there is probably one of those close games in ~20? games.
Other than that they are 19 steamrolls to eitherway.
Ppl have been asking for SBMM or what ever that would make the situation even slightly better aka getting more of those close games.
Sure, they did lately announce the group vs group rule, which could have been introduced years ago.
Still, leaves the map / gamemode / un-even teams due to lack of sbmm entirely unresolved.
Except I dont need to grind, got all unlocked. Most this silly ass penalty affects is the new players that are forced to stay in cannonfodder steamroll games or take the penalty.
Or could have fixed the issue of leaving rather than slapping a poor excuse bandage.

This is hard for me to imagine being such a misarable person who just leave the game to enjoy other players suffer, since you can’t know how the game ends, maybe it will be even easier to win with bot instead of such a person.
But those penalties definetly will harm feelings of people those want to play game for fun. (aka IMHO the main Enlisted audience)

new players aren’t forced to stay lol -20% isn’t going to stop your progression completely it’ll just delay it temporarily.
they will never fix the issue with people leaving lol because its always something else from connection issues, people rage quitting, people needing to do other things, people not liking the map/ game mode while other people do, and people that play the game for whats left of historical feeling
I never said people enjoyed leaving matches to make other people lose on purpose lol I just said people enjoy leaving and in turn making the people that stayed lose their match that could have been won. literally if youre playing for fun a -20% does not matter LOL like enjoy the game dont worry about some lost exp if youre going to be leaving matches
20% decrease on progression while grinding thru the absolute truck load of obsolete sht and duplicates of GE tree does quite significantly affect your progression.
Which already for above mentioned reasons is quite burden.
Being able to select what you want to play is about old as internet.
Why it havent been implemented to this game is the question.

Just like players who sit in sky doing nothing.
I have no enjoyment playing maps or game modes i don’t like… why i should stay to satisfy you while making myself suffer is beyond my comprehension.

This is not about your case, dude, this is more about some sort of mentally sick people those think that their leave from the game will bring loose to their team and they … enjoying it.
Anyway I don’t think that there is such a large group of players, with those issues, that could affect game community enough to introduce those stupid penalties
