The Turán 1 - A Hungarian tank for the BR1 Axis

Hungary, during ww2, was known for using a lot of German tanks, but there were a few natively designed and used tanks actually used, and would be some really cool additions to the TT. One of said vehichles is the Turán 1. The Turán 1 was a medium tank based off of the design of the Skoda T21 tank that improved various aspects such as the transmission, hull, turret, and fitted a Hungarian 40mm cannon, machine guns, and smoke launchers. One big advantage this tank has is it’s reverse gearbox, which lets it reverse at the same speed it can go forward.

Shell stats

APHEBC- 63 61 52 43 35 29 (17 grams of explosive filler)
APBC------ 73 71 61 51 42 35 (no explosive filler)
HE- 63 grams of explosive filler

In terms of armor, it’s pretty similarly endowed in that area to the Panzer 3J, but it has a thicker turret in comparison and mesh skirts similar to those on late panzer 4s.

Sorry misread. Thought u said br 1.

Why? The armor is incredibly similar to the Panzer 3J and the gun is a little worse, why would this be BR2?

Need to double check something: does pz3j have he

Of course it does, every normal tank does. I don’t know why you think it wouldn’t.

Cuz it doesn’t in war thunder. If pz3 j has he then this would be fine. Don’t underestimate the power of a good mg and a great reverse tho. This will prob be the new strongest conventional tank of br 1. The anti tank shell is actually deceptively strong as it uses aphebc while the pz3j uses apc.

Turan I is a tech tree must!

Obviously, it would be BR2.

For what reason would it be BR2 from your reasoning? I don’t see any reason it should be.

Turan I is comparable to tanks like Panzer III J and Chi-Ha Kai, there is no reason for it to be BR2.

I thought so too at first cuz I had the misconception it had a short 75 or the same gun as the zyrini 2. Haven’t played it much as it’s a newish tank.

My bad. Just checked the gun stats. Given how late this tank appeared, I assumed it was an analogue of the Soviet 45mm cannon, but the Turan’s gun is more like a 2-pounder (or Type-94?). I don’t even want to imagine how painful it is.

Yeah, Hungary was really behind in tank tech before the war.
