Top of that the T34 has quite massive postpen for what ever reason, resulting fairly often to 1hit kill.
Well its the natural Russian bias that also exists in warthunder.
Soviet tanks correctly have by far the biggest amount of explosive filler in their tanks - which made the devs develop tank balance around this attribute despite it being quite irrelevant in the real world.
Every warthunder player will tell you how much it sucks to play British tanks because they completely lack any explosive filler. I dont think the devs will ever adress this issue, because that would require completely redesigning the damage model.
This debate has become largely ridiculous.

yeah “iconic reason” not because it has 70 mm of pen and being introduced in 1939 is absolutely equal to tigers and panthers in combat effectiveness, why are germany players such dishonest liars? Eternal victim syndrome?
Hey, dont put me in the same camp as him.
KV1 is OP - not because of what he keeps yelling about, but rather it has weirdly artificially increased survivability. My Panzer IV J shots can pen and hit its ammo directly - only to turn from undamaged to “yellow”.
When KV1 got added first in Stalingrad, I would one hit kill it constantly with my Panzer III N.
80mm of pen HEAT was totally countering 75mm of KV1 armor - long story short, people complained (me included) that KV1 is pathetically useless and it got over corrected.
KV1 stats aren’t crazy at all, its basically just a T34 with better rear armor, but the invisible stats like post pen damage and survivability of crew and modules are what make KV1 so nasty to deal with.

First, Germany needs a decent tank with a Battle Rating of 2. I believe they should be Stug-3Fs, with a long-barreled 75mm gun. Not Marders, with their open turrets and lacking armor.

Well STUG F with 50mm of flat armor isnt really better anyways. I personally would argue that Marder are more effective than STUG F, because they have a MG, but I would argue that this is a question of preference. Alot of people hate open top tanks, and I can understand that - still, I would use STUG III F alot in BR2 because its a very iconic German vehicle.

Also STUG F unlike STUG G or Panzer IV J/ H has the weaker L43 gun - which has like 10 less pen or something. I just checked warthunder wiki, both Marders have a tiny bit more pen than STUG III F, but still less than Panzer IV L48.
Its weird, this little pen difference really shouldn’t matter, but personally I found Panzer IIIJ1 having it easier than Panzer IV F2 to take out KV1.

I like it how this conversation has gone from SU-85 is absolute must, because soviets struggle with panther, that apparently never appears as BR4 currently is non-existent TO its too much struggle to hit panther MG port with T34-1941 but jumbos MG port is ez-cake.
Anyway, you seem to conveniently forget that it has ~75mm armor which is about 5mm less than on panther.
Granted, panther has angled armor.
Dunno, things like ppsh41 stick assault rifle remaining broken for years, while Mp38 was fixed in matter of weeks.
Bodyarmor and many other “hidden” buffs probably affects quite a bit.

lol the t34 only has 45mm of armor on its hull. That’s less than most br 2 tanks. So t34 for br 2 ahh logic.

You usually should use the gun to shoot enemies, not your armor.

cuz they all agree that ur talking out ur ass. theres no discussion between us rational ppl cuz we all agree a tank that trades a turret mg and some armor for a gun that can deal with uptiers without losing out on he would be nice
