The event MP40 with suppressor has worst stats compared to the regular MP40. The regular MP40 has 7.0 damage and 0.3 recoil multiplier while the event MP40 with suppressor has 6.8 damage and 0.4 recoil multiplier.
This makes little sense because extra length and weight provided by the suppressor should make the damage better and lower the recoil instead, NOT lower the damage and increase the recoil.
Additionally, the name should be changed from MP40 Silenced to just MP40 (S) to make the gun consistent with more recent suppressed weapon names
I think the developers should just make the stats match the normal MP40 for the sake of keeping things simple. But if it was up to me, I would buff the damage and velocity of the MP40(S) and increase the time it takes to ADS with it (because the suppressor would make the gun more bulky)
I’d very much like the STG44 (S) to just barely reach 10.0 damage with the extra barrel length provided from the suppressor. The G43 Kurz does 10.1 damage with 7.92x33 kurz from the longer barrel anyhow
Well, as long as this MP40 isnt also using sub sonic ammo, there really isnt a reason for its stats to be different.
Technically added weight could help mitigate recoil, but MP40 isnt known to have recoil to begin with. Also a suppressor is front heavy so this could realistically speaking make the gun handling worse and not better.
This nerf makes sense, since silenced weapons use subsonic rounds, which have worse performance than standard rounds. However, I’m not against removing this nerf.
I think all the suppressed guns have worse stats then the originals. I don’t have the suppressed MP40, but these are the ones I do have and the suppressed ones are slightly weaker.
As far as I can tell, the in game supressed MP40 isn’t using subsonic ammo, and it probably should be. It currently has the same muzzle velocity as the TT gun, so there should be some differences in how the gun operates. A Supressor keeps higher pressures in the system longer, which in a simple blowback firearm should increase the bolt velocity, increasing felt recoil but also at least slightly increased rate of fire, so those are the changes that should happen if they don’t move to subsonic velocities.
If they move the velocity down to <343m/s, probably about 330 from what I can find on early subsonic 9x19, I’d say the damage should stay at 7 (because this game doesn’t account well for small differences in muzzle energy) but have better falloff because the heavier bullet should carry energy better at range. Recoil would still increase, because heavier bullet should/could mean higher chamber pressures, which leads to faster bolt velocities, and then also faster rates of fire.
the optimal correction is downtiering the squad to BR1 where the british silenced sten squad also waits.
improving the gun stats wont change its low power of just having 5 soldiers compared to any normal assaulter squad.
The only suppressed gun in the game right now that uses sub sonic ammo is the sniper mosin with bramit suppressor. And it feels utterly miserable to use because the velocity (340 m/s) is like trying to snipe people with a pistol and the damage is only 21.8
This is an extended cartridge with a lightweight rifle bullet in a 7.62TT pistol case. Twice the weight with the same propellant charge should have an impact. And it certainly did.
This cartridge has a bullet velocity of 247 m/s.
Well… Because the special cartrighe slowier but its still heavier and wilt rifle bullet we can keep damage. Or… Maybe even inscreas damage for PPD Bramit and PPSH-41 (S)
