The russian bias was strong today

Check your feelings again — or your translator. @GeneralBrus communicating politely enough, especially after what was said about all Slavs

Alright, I accept your words. I’ll put aside what I’m doing right now to reflect and think this over carefully.

Maybe words like arrogance or conceit aren’t the right ones to use either.

Then how should I put it? I want to describe their behavior: they think they’re already strong enough, so they block all future possibilities and shut the door on new content for later players. What’s a proper way to describe this kind of attitude?

apathy, indifference maybe

Cold indifference? Would that be the right word?

But they still voted. I think true indifference would be not voting at all, or not saying a single word.
Only that would prove they really don’t care one way or another.
Yet their vote clearly blocked this vehicle from getting a proper BR placement.

You’ve seen the poll I made here, right?
We went from discussing the ISU-152, to German tank destroyers, the Panzer IV, the Grizzly,
and finally all the way down to lowering the Japanese Type 3 Chi-Nu medium tank to BR 2.

The contrast is huge, you know?
The only downside is I didn’t set my poll to public when I created it.
If I had, the difference in votes and the number supporting BR3 would’ve been visually obvious and really striking.

On one side, the Russian forum majority voted against letting it go to BR3.
On the other side, the English forum majority voted in favor of putting it at BR3.

Some people argued with me, saying it’s only a small lead—just twenty or so more votes—and doesn’t count as a big advantage.

But I replied: even the US president can get elected by a narrow margin without anyone questioning the result.
If that’s accepted, then this poll result should be accepted just the same.

I’ve been feeling really frustrated and depressed lately.
I can’t have normal communication with people from the Russian community; it’s like there’s an invisible wall blocking us.
Yet their discussions and votes still directly affect our side of the player base.

I really don’t understand what Gaijin is thinking with this system that keeps the two communities from communicating properly with each other.

I know how in China, those who want to split Taiwan from the mainland try to cut all connections across the strait.
Is Gaijin really planning to separate into a fully standalone Russian server someday?

Well being “insulted” might have been an exaggeration, I am very aware of Russian bias, all the Soviet myths about Soviet tanks are still deeply rooted inside of the Russian mind - just like how for Germans the Tiger tank was apparently the pinnacle of tank engineering.

Every nation and its players are in their own way biased for their iconic WW2 weaponry, but since the devs are former Soviets - its naturally their stuff that needs to be kept in check.

Stop being so racist))
It only makes me laugh, but other people might be offended. We Russians aren’t racist, so I don’t want to respond in kind. But we don’t have the “white man syndrome” that many other Europeans have, which makes them repent for the actions of their ancestors. Being Slavic is cool. Being Russian is cool.

It’s especially funny to read your attacks on Russians after this:

:upside_down_face:

I completely agree with you here; it’s a serious problem. But it’s not because the Soviets supposedly have weaker weapons at BR 5. On the contrary, the AVS-36-20, Fedorov Avtomat, and RD-44 are unmatched. The fact is, at BR 3, Soviet weapons are EVEN more superior to those of their opponents. That’s why you can win there by swiping your face across your keyboard. The enemies are also generally weaker, with many newbies and bots. Ultimately, the freebies offered by BR 3 make it pointless for Soviet players to go to BR 5.

There are three ways to fix this:

  • Nerf Soviet weapons at BR 3: Uragan, PPSh Box, SVT-38, KV. Remove body armor!
  • Buff German and Japanese weapons at BR 2-3.
  • Restore matches between BR 3 and BR 5.

Anticipating further arguments on your part, I suggest we play together in a squad now. We’ll compare notes and draw conclusions. 5 BR, infantry only, EU server, Germany.

If I wouldn’t know better I would call this statement also racist to begin with - luckily I live in Germany and I 100% know you are obviously right with this.

In any case, I’m not trying to offend other Europeans with this. I’m sincerely sorry that the situation in their countries has turned out this way.

I check in with the Russian Forum from time to time, got some basic Russian language skills to not rely entirely on a translator, which helps - but I actually think its not bad to have two groups with different mindsets, while you are right that the Russian forum can get very upset about things in their own way - still… if I were a dev, I would love to have two different opinions on the same matter. Helps seeing details that the other side might not consider.

Even a biased opinion is valuable, comparing two extreme views might help find the middle ground better.

It is naturally a good thing to have different opinions. When disagreements exist, people should take the initiative to communicate, accommodate each other, and finally reach a consensus and resolve conflicts.

If people hold different views yet refuse to communicate, the situation will only move toward division and eventually lead to serious consequences. This deadlock, where both sides stick to their own opinions and refuse to talk to one another, will only end in complete opposition and separation.

That’s why I really have to question what Gaijin is thinking. We used to be able to communicate directly on the Russian forums, but now we have to register a separate special account, which has to be kept apart from our English forum accounts. It’s extremely troublesome.

What makes it worse is that decisions made over there still affect us here, yet we have no way to communicate and fix the problems. Take the poll I created as an example. Out of seventy votes, most people support placing the ISU-152 at BR3, while the majority on the Russian forums are against it. There is no way to bridge this gap, and it is really frustrating.

Playing with “unbiased” soviet equipment that won the war!

I read a few words here and there, but no way I’m reading all those walls of text. Might be missing something, but oh well.
That was the extent of my “contribution” to the topic.

Is this even considered racial discrimination? I honestly never thought it would be.

I’ve always held a tolerant attitude toward all sides. On top of that, I’ve been really frustrated and upset that the ISU-152 can’t be lowered to BR3. The fact that you can still reply to me calmly and optimistically really shows your generosity and open-mindedness.

When I first talked about prejudice, I also mentioned topics related to the so-called Fourth Reich. As for the term “white guilt syndrome,” I’ve never even heard of it. Could this concept explain their overly lenient attitude toward refugees from former colonies? It even reminds me of news stories from before — cases where women were assaulted by refugees, yet people were expected to forgive them with a smile afterward.

I only believe one opposite principle: the faults of ancestors should not be borne by later generations. Yet this kind of reversed double standard is extremely obvious when it comes to Japan.

Honestly, Russians have quite a unique way of thinking. During the Russia–Ukraine conflict, they came up with tactics like makeshift miniature “turtle tanks,” and they even use anti-tank mines like improvised hand grenades. They have all kinds of wild and creative ideas. On Chinese internet, everyone jokingly refers to this kind of design as “green tech,” and it’s really interesting.

I’ve never condemned all Slavs as a whole; I only criticize specific behaviors.
It’s already common knowledge among players that Anton’s team showed clear favoritism toward Germany and deliberately nerfed Soviet vehicles back in War Thunder. I’ve never gone so far as to insult all Slavs in extreme terms.

Living in China, I mainly just follow the general progress of the Russia–Ukraine conflict. Nowadays mainstream news rarely focuses on this anymore and reports more on Iran-related events instead. Public opinion across Chinese internet is extremely fragmented: some support Russia, some support Ukraine. There are even people who hold contradictory stances — supporting certain radical views while backing Russia, or mixing other conflicting ideologies. The various divided opinions are so messy you couldn’t even fit them all in a nine-grid layout.

If we’re talking about real prejudice toward Russian players, much of it actually comes from BVVD themselves. In War Thunder, they deliberately overbuff Russian vehicles like the BMPT, making them overpowered. This alone put Russian content in the spotlight and caused a lot of backlash from players.

There’s a fitting saying: Western anti-Russian propaganda over the years has had far less effect than BVVD overtly favoring Russian vehicles in the game.

Still, we all know this has nothing to do with ordinary Russian people. Just like now, we can communicate calmly and rationally instead of clashing with stubborn extreme viewpoints.

You quoted the line: “These are only the actions of a tiny minority; you cannot generalize it to everyone.”
But in this situation, that statement feels awkward — it’s neither comprehensive nor fair, and it sounds like a forced conclusion.

The reality is straightforward: votes on the Russian forums have locked the ISU-152 firmly at BR4. Meanwhile, a large number of players on the English forums support moving it down to BR3. The two sides are completely opposed, and there’s no way to reconcile or communicate.

As for Chinese players, many play the game but almost never take part in forum polls. Most see the forums mainly as a place for arguments, and polls as nothing more than a meaningless formality just to waste time. On top of that, our English-speaking admins clearly lean toward German and Japanese interests and are especially eager whenever content for Japan comes up. Honestly, I don’t think they will ever make any real effort to improve the situation for Soviet content in my lifetime.

The reason I care so much about the divide between BR3 and BR5 is that BR3 marks a clear difference in gameplay pace and experience.
At BR3, even if you get matched occasionally against BR4, the overall pace is relaxed. You can take your time with vehicles and infantry pushes, and even play casually while taking it easy.

BR5 is nothing like that. Nowadays BR4 is basically the same as BR5 — the pace is extremely fast, combat intensity is cranked up to the limit, and there’s almost no time to catch your breath.

There was a previous event task requiring 100 rifleman kills. The only fast way to finish it was to grind BR5. You spawn straight into forward positions and fight fast close-quarters battles. You earn roughly the same rewards anyway. I’d rather play with high-tier German squads at a relaxed pace, enjoying both casual gameplay and steady rewards.

The ISU-152’s performance simply doesn’t fit the high-intensity environment of BR4 and BR5.
Plenty of practical in-game evidence and real combat results prove its overall capability is even slightly worse than the KV-2. I really can’t understand why they

Actually the American Sherman is already really strong when facing Japanese vehicles at BR 2.
It’s obvious that BR 3 completely overpowers BR 2, yet I’ve never seen Japanese players complain and get mad at the Americans over it.

So why are Japanese mains suddenly kicking up a fuss against the Soviets now?

Soviet players run into Japanese vehicles all the time these days, and most Japanese players just bring out rocket launchers anyway. What exactly are they even afraid of?

Besides, almost all Japanese tanks basically don’t get taken out easily by one shot, and they hardly rely on healing kits either.
DF has already adjusted their stats internally, giving them an effect almost like an invincible totem with strong survivability.

It really just feels like there aren’t many active Soviet players left nowadays, so there’s barely anyone willing to speak up and defend the Soviet faction.

Imagine yourself in the shoes of the German and Japanese players at BR 2, forced to play against this tank, which wipes every living thing on point frome a gray-zone every 19 seconds.

I can only suggest separating BR 4 from BR 5.

Yeah the KV is pretty much the same, just way higher ceiling but also an extremely low floor. It’s basically straight-up gambling.

Got it, let’s talk faction balance. The map for the Soviets and Japan in Manchuria isn’t even that big. It’s full of urban combat, so there’s nothing to worry about. Germany’s Panzer III F can also deal with 90mm armor. Germany has never lacked high-penetration guns.
