The missed opportunity to bring back german players into berlin

I find it a shame that the devs really missed a great opportunity to bring back german players into the berlin campaign by giving them a reward squad, instead of the sovjets…

I mean who really thinks the sovjets needed another fucking smg squad? Because the PPD40 and PPSh41 are not good enough?

The one thing that would have gotten at least me (and probably a lot of other people) back into the berlin campaign with the germans, would have been a german SMG squad. Why not a prototype STG 44 squad?

I feel like even just the insult that the VG1-5 is, would deserve a fucking appology and some propper replacements.

I just absolutely know for sure, I am not going to fucking touch that campaign with the germans, once the sovjets get their SMG squad.
Because then its gonna be even easier for every sovjet that doesnt have a PPD40 or PPSh41 yet, to get it. Leading to every sovjet just running around with everything from 2 to 4 SMG squads.

So yeah, well done devs… Thank you for giving me closure, so I can finally put that fucking piece of shit you call Berlin campaign to rest if I want to play germany.

Disclaimer - I do still play the berlin campaign, as SOVJETS, just whenever “thinking” is just too hard and I just want to go on a point and click adventure.

I appreciate this rage quit, it was pretty revealing. I also do this kind of public cancellation sometimes when I’m not happy with a German team filled with FG / MG.

In any case, you are right, and I also sit thinking: why do I need another squad with mediocre SMGs, when I have already maxed out the campaign and have an ultramega death star - PPSh41?

ok. just because you know a bunch of people that decided to go alieds after tryed axis doesnt mean the rest of the community shares the same input.

some of us still play Axis only on berlin. and isnt a squad or a weapon type that would let people play it more.

right now, axis in berlin are in a good fighting position. that longer cap times let us win more matches and/or have some fighting chance. isnt a squad on a event that would change that.

as for the squad itself, its a reward, good or bad its another type of squad you can bring into the batlefield, even if you already have the ppsh41, its always nice to have more options. even, if they are worst than normal soldiers/squads.

Feels a lot of Germans are back playing Berlin at the moment. Something good happend there. The battles are really tight the last 2 days instead of the 80% faceroll it now feels quite equal

That is nice to hear. But everytime I play, I really notice that I have no more frustration tolerance for that campaign.

And it would have been a good gesture as a little sorry, for the piledriving before.

One of the points was, that those sovjets that are not yet constantly runing around with a PPD40 or PPSh41 will be doing that a lot sooner, thanks to an elite squad more, giving them the access to the 2 standard SMG squads and their weapons faster. Meaning everyone will be running around with them soon enough.

And I just don’t have the masocistic desire it would take, to then continue playing with either the high recoil, slow moving MG34 or the joke of the year - the VG1-5.
The germans don’t have anything comparable to a PPD40 or PPSh41.

This would have been an opportunity to give them something equal until they give the germans something equal in the campaign unlocks.

At least the ppk42 is good alternative to pps43 for new player so more weapons order spared for other things

we do have counters to said high rate of fire smgs, the berreta m38 and as an MG the mg34 75 round mag.

So what the sovjets can start doing at lvl 20 with the PPD40 we can start almost 1’000’000 XP later with the M38 at the veeeeery end of the campaign unlocks

And NO the MG34 IS NOT A COUNTER.

You move slower and you have significantly more recoil on the MG34 - now what does the MG34 do better than the PPD40 or PPSh41?
Except for higher damage - since 1-2 shots is still all you need from the PPD or PPSh

prety much everything a ppsh or ppd cant above 30 mt range or so while its also amazing at close range because… 1 hit kill…

i m talking about the 75 round variant. but our play styles could be diferent.

How often do you find yourself as a sovjet having to fight in wide open fields with absolutely no option to move through CQC areas? Granted - there are a few, but nowhere near as many as there are CQC areas. Where anything above 30m means anything

Too bad every match just suk cause soviet cant even cap first point. Most boring campaing/side to play. just prone with mg34, point and click helpless ducks that try cross street…

Yes, you get killed once because of a stationary MG.
You respawn and then what do you do?
Do you keep running out into the same street from the same point with no cover or plan?

So what is your plan and cover… lets say moltke bridge? after first push fails there isnt any sandbags left but cause you played lot of that campaing you already know it… right?

Before update soviets could capture most shitty meat grinder caps. Köningplatz and opera house is good examples. After update havent seen soviets even capture 2nd point.

Also there is lot of juicy caps on other maps. Ministry garden might be only map where i have lost after update

Tell me exactly what prevents you from doing that, I will just tell you to do exactly what they did, to prevent you from doing that

Yeah let pretend that germans dont use grenade at start or park tank on that steet where its outside of playable area for soviets and ruins protect it side for soviet tanks. Also planes might cause some problem with their 250kg bombs.

actually yes - I take that partially back what I said.
I play only lone fighter mode. I guess in SQUADS, the amount of explosive flying around might be a bit higher and the covers fall quicker.

Fair point, and my appologies! I can see that this bridge would be a pretty mess to capture.

In lone fighter, the weapon you use bears more significance, since you dont have that HE Shit party that you have in squads, so what you have in your hands, is really whats gonna make it or break it.

And with fewer people, fewer people fall victim to something like a stationary MG, and the more mobile guns become more of a danger

And lets put it this way, I see a PPD or PPSh as essentially just a more mobile and more controlable MG34.

Which really makes it unfair in my eyes.

Oh yes. lone fighter is totally different game so it might actually work on that mode cause there isnt just constant nade/he spam

That however strikes me as a map problem, gun for gun, the PPD/PPSh is just a more mobile and more controlable version of the MG34

Besides, there are also capture points, that are near enough untenable as defenders (at least in lone fighter)

(+ I am still absolutely fucking salty and butthurt that we get shit like a fucking VG1-5 and still no STG in sight)
