In 1944, it was clear that the Ha-Go tank was hopelessly outdated in many areas, especially the 37mm cannon that was the primary armament. While new tanks were being made, efforts were taken to improve the Ha-Go’s effectiveness by improving the armament and make use of the existing tanks. Earlier in 1942, a similar process happend to Chi-Ha tanks, which replaced the low velicity 57mm guns with 47mm guns that had better penetration. To upgrade the Ha-Go, turrets from the Chi-Ha still with the Type 97 57mm cannon were installed and the turret ring was widened to accommodate the size of the larger turret, known as the Ke-Ru (often incorrectly called the Ke-Nu). While they didn’t see combat, sources claim around 100 of these hybrid Ke-Ru tanks were converted in total from Ha-Gos in total. This would be a decent, (hopefully) free tank for Japan BR1 that actually has a usable cannon compared to the weaker 37mms that you have to rely on. While I still firmly belive that the Chi-Ha should be added to the TT (It's time to make the Chi-Ha a TT vehicle, for any interested), this would still make an interesting sidegrade to it if it’s free, and would be quite easy for the devs to patch together, since the models of both parts are present in game.
