The FG 42 series of rifles has become one of the most recognizable weapons of the second world war, and the earlier model E more so than the later G model (often called the FG 42 II) despite having a slightly more limited production of 2,000 examples compared to 5,000. The model E FG 42 (or FG 42 I), much like the later model G, was able to mount a telescopic sight in order to make it a marksman’s weapon, the ZGF 42. This was a unique 4x scope made purpose built for the gun, and while not too many were made (somewhere around 300, from what I’ve been able to gather), the FG 42 E with this scope still saw some use nonetheless.
In game, this would be a sidegrade to the Sniper FG 42 II, that will behave similarly to how the normal FG42 does to the FG42 II; that being a more aggressive option at close range while being slightly less controllable while firing fully automatic. This shouldn’t be an issue for it’s use a sniper though, as the intended way of using it would be using single shots at range and automatic fire at medium to close range, just like the current FG 42 sniper is used. Adding this to game would give a nice new gun, and would require the devs to only model a new model for the scope and put it on the existing FG 42 model.
Alright, Enlisted now features the scoped MkB.42 and StG-44; all that’s missing now are the scoped FG-42 and FG-42 II. After all, simply attaching two different types of scopes to the existing full-auto FG-42 and FG-42 II models would effectively transform these automatic rifles into sniper rifles. Of course, it would be even better if these two scoped weapons were unlocked via a new Paratrooper tech tree.
Alright so why would you want the version of the rifle that in game is more specified to cqc with a scope??? Just because they idiotically introduced avs 20 rd doesn’t mean you have to jump on the bandwagon.
Ironically i did want to mention that the 42 1 does look cooler with the scope… however as long as 1 gun per 3+ months continued there is no room for sidegrades.
Simply put, why not? Like I had said above, you’ll be using this in semi-auto or in the sniper role the same as the sniper 42 II, so the rate of fire doesn’t matter. But it does a different playstyle at closer ranges compared to the sniper 42 II because of the highe ROF.
We are getting 1 gun per major update… there is no room for a sidegrade. That’s why. You can complain to the devs for that.
If you wanted to further this slop after the avs 20 rd? i’m mean sure… enjoy.
This is quite miserable commenting however im displeased with the trend that is happening… god forbid we wait another 3 months and its ANOTHER sidegrade.
However can i think of better addition to BRV germany weaponry wise? No.
