The Best way to nerf the Battle rifle Meta?

Machine guns firing the same bullet do only 13.2 damage, which is insufficient to one shot a vitality user. Why don’t we apply the same treatment to Br 5 battle rifles, which are more accurate and can be put on 9 man infantry squads? As long as the BR 5 full auto weapons can one shot, they will be the number one choice for cqc. It’s simply unfair to all the other weapon types.

I would have preferred a damage nerf instead of the recoil nerf which they will implement this coming update: the current recoil pattern is way more fun (except for fg 42 1).

This all spiraled out of control when they first added the type hei auto dealing 13.9 damage anyways…

This would in theory also reduce the disparity between BR 5 and BR 4; two birds with one stone.

The best nerf is to restrict the number of SF’s you can bring to battle.

I don’t necessarily think they should be nerfed, but my idea of overhauling the meta is moving them to Assault

that’s similar in concept to restricting them to their own class: Fewer number of SF are allowed on infantry. But which infantry types gets to use SF?

it’s not necessary, but the game would be so much less stale, plus you aren’t punished by the average sweats with 9 man oneshotting at cqc, while you take your stg 44 out for a stroll and enjoy that really quick ttk (sarcasm). But giving assaulters these weapons don;t really fit the theme

My suggestion would be to add a new tree to the Rifleman Squad (like how they currently have Squad upgrades, Soldier upgrades, and Weapon upgrades). This new tree would let you turn riflemen into things like Automatic Rifleman and Rifle Grenadiers. Automatic Rifleman would be the only troop able to use a SF rifle.

I would limit the number of Automatic Rifleman you can have per squad to just 2.

Good luck getting people to vote for that… Plus, is that fun? And, if we limit it to 2, then assaulter squads might just reign. 2 regulars with battle rifles, the rest get assault weapons. At lower tiers, SMG’s already prove their cqc worth well over semi auto’s.

I prefer hard defined classes instead of upgrades.

Do you think the devs are more likely to just nerf the weapon, or add a new class/ upgrade feature?

I mean obviously what I suggest will never happen, its just what I think should have be done from the beginning. The BR5 playerbase is too used to running nothing but select fires now, they will literally melt if they don’t get to run 10 trillion FG42’s or AVT’s.

New class, it makes more sense too since Grenadier would be yet another equipment class. We have Sniper for scoped weapons so grenade launchers might as well go to a class with that specific job

And full auto battle rifles will go with a new class? There have been such suggestions already made, but nothing came of it.

I think my suggestion can pacify their urge to spam full auto while fixing the problem (to an extent). Players may still prefer more lives, but at least the mg and assault weapon users will have an easier time.

During the early stages of the games competitive scene, the top players where using fedorov avtomat, even when it dealt 12.6 damage at the time, while the fg 42 existed with insane stats at the time. I have no doubt that other weapon types can be brought back into meta, while still keeping the current possible loadouts the same. Programming a new class might be a headache for the devs. But idk, thy decided to devote all their energy to the saboteurs instead of considering simple solutions. IHNFC.

Maybe the next update can fix it, but i have my doubts, since battle rifle can still one shot.

I mean the saboteurs are a completely pointless squad to add to the game yet the devs took the time to develop them so idk

I get over 100 kills pretty much every game maining assaulter squads. They were always able to compete against automatic rifles in br5. People just be whining cause they keep getting killed by things. AP mines, phosphorus, grenade launchers, bomb runs, m8 rockets were all nerfed because people complained over getting killed.

I am actually fine with BR5 the way it is currently. I can play BR5 with Semi Auto’s, SMG’s or MG’s and more or less end up with the same results at the end of games. Yes, I mainly play BR 5 with my rifle squads, but not because they are overly dominant, but because for me, it makes sense.

I mainly use all tech tree assaulter squads in BR2, all my tech tree MG squads in BR 3 and all my nine man Rifle squads in BR 5. I play mostly Allies and Germans and a fair amount of Soviet, and all my BR lineups are set up the same between the three factions. I don’t play BR 5 with the Japanese.

BR 2, IMOP the strongest overall level for SMG’s, so I use as many as I can with the least amount of rifleman as possible. BR 3, strong MG’s, especially with the BAR A2, which is better then either the 1941 Johnson or Garand, so I don’t use a lot of rifleman here. Plus, German and Soviet have pretty good BR 3 MG squads as well. So, that leaves my BR 5 with lots of rifleman available. Maybe some choose SF because they feel it gives a huge advantage, but I choose them because it makes sense. :joy: I do have assaulter and MG squads at BR 5, but they are premium, and I do use them at BR 5 in my lineup.

Correction…Today, I use all my German nine man rifle squad in BR 3, and only use them in custom matches. I gave them all BR 1 Carcano bolt action rifles, and VG 1-5’s as backups and use them to help improve my bolt skills, because for a long time, I sucked. So, all my German TT sniper squads have replaced them at BR 5 with scopeless StG 44’s, which essentially makes them assaulter squads.
