The 20 Least Played Vehicles

I was digging through some of the data on Enlisted Roll Call and thought it might be interesting to compile a list of the least played vehicles. There was a lot of manual working of the data from its raw format, but the table below should give a decent ballpark picture of how popular each vehicle is.

The % Sorties column shows how many times that vehicle was chosen compared to other vehicles of the same nation, type, and BR. It’s impossible to get a completely accurate picture of the data because it will inherently be biased against vehicles that are unlocked later in the tech tree or in folders.

Vehicle Name Faction Type BR % Sorties
MiG-3 USSR Plane I 0.81%
Re. 2000 serie 1 Germany     Plane    I 0.36%
Spitfire Mk Vb/trop      USA Plane II 0.99%
C. 202EC Germany Plane II 1.10%
P-38E USA Plane III 0.42%
Bf 109 F-4/trop Germany Plane III 3.73%
Bf 109 G-10 Germany Plane IV 3.25%
IL-10 USSR Plane V 3.26%
AP-4C USA Plane V 4.04%
Me 410 B-1 Germany Plane V 2.06%
Bf 109 G-14 Germany Plane V 0.85%
AB-41 Germany Tank I 2.06%
Marder III Germany Tank II 2.71%
Marder III H Germany Tank II 0.97%
M10 GMC USA Tank III 1.85%
SU-85M USSR Tank IV 0.48%
Jagdpanzer IV Germany Tank IV 1.86%
Panzer IV/70(V) Germany Tank IV 1.01%
Panzer IV/70(A) Germany Tank IV 0.53%
Bfw. Jagdpanther G1 Germany Tank V 0.99%

I thought that seeing the data might foster a good discussion. What stands out to you from this list? What changes could make these vehicles a more appealing? Is it okay for some vehicles to only be chosen ~1% of the time?

For reference, here is the cleaned data I was working with:

100000% thats not right

AP4C is one of the most popular allied planes in BR5

the other ones ig are right

No idea, sorry!

I went back to double check this one because I thought it was a bit odd too. I correctly categorized all of the data for this model (it was scattered across different skins and its official name “F4U”). It has an unusually high kills/sortie ratio, so it’s possible that some sorties weren’t recorded properly by the game. However, even if it had the average kills/sortie of the other BRV Allies planes it would still remain the least flown plane, but not by a margin that would make me include it in this list.

I think if there were more vehicle squads (and there should be) you’d see more variety.

I can’t justify bringing an Re2000 into a match on the same squad that has the E-7.

You will always have obsolete vehicles that just arent as good or to niche to be used at the current BR and no easy way to fix that.

The marders for example were the dedicated AT choice for BR 2 but ever since the Stug 3F was moved down there there is almost zero reason for still useing it. But on ther other hand the Stug 3 f was even worse comaprably even worse at BR 3. So trying to fix the stug 3 made both marders pointless.

So unless you do some scetchy artificial buffs for one you cant really have both viable at the same time as they are to similar in their role but one is just better at its job.

2000 serie 1 BP version should be at 0

I don’t think i have the BP version. Is it functionally different or just ugly?

its a fake war skin basically

Was it the one with the decal from an anime on it?

I think the Re. 2000 serie 1 is the perfect example of this. It’s BR1 so it can’t be downtiered, it didn’t carry ordnance historically, and its flying stats are already stretched about as far as they can be without just making stuff up. It’s also in a folder so people don’t feel upset by having to research it, which is good.

There’s an unconventional solution for this particular case and I wonder what you guys think about it. What if they removed the Re. 2000 serie 1 from the tech tree, but let people that already researched it keep the plane for as to not upset anyone. They could then replace it with the Re.2000 serie 2 G.A. which added underwing bomb racks among some other minor improvements to the serie 1. One of these ordnance options from WT could be selected for it:

Re2000

This way we both preserve an Italian option for BR1, but turn it into a viable choice. It wouldn’t be as good as the Bf 109 E-7/U2, but that plane is really strong so it’s probably not a good measuring stick for what a BR1 plane needs to be.

Luckily most of the other vehicles on the list have more options for what could be done to improve their viability, if needed.

I think adding the GA is a good idea, but the solution to making a lot of vehicles viable i think is having more squads associated with them.

If with the upcoming alternate squads we could get an Italian Fighter squad I would happily take both the E-7 and the Serie 1 as it is now as a backup fighter for emergencies. It’s still a decent air-to-air plane in BR1 with the heavier (but slower) MG, and if you just need to get something in the air to take out harassing enemy air, it’s worth having in the back pocket.

That’s the one. There were a few people still flying it according to the data!

Agreed. I will always support giving players more choice, and especially the ability to have the correct nationality squad for their vehicles.

I went and looked at the forum post about this and it looks like they changed it? I might have misread, though. Anyone actually have it that can confirm?

It’s my understanding that the flag and decal were removed prior to release, so it looks like the image below. I don’t have it in game to confirm though.

Yes, they did remove the fictional flag and squadron icon once people pointed out that it was a skin form an anime available in War Thunder. I bet they wished they could have replace the skin entirely but it was too late as the BP was already ongoing.

everything you have done is totally wrong. idk what formula you used for % of sorties nor does it matter cause data you are using is not what you think you are getting.

i would assume that table from enlisted roll call just shows in how many matches player with that plane was present and sortie is how many times did that player spawn the plane. so for ap-4c % of sorties is 52%(9785 sorties divided by 18790 matches), while for p47 is 2.14 sorties per match. also that stat doesnt necessarily show popularity of certain vehicle, cause some players are infantry mains that have certain vehicle in loadout or they dont have slot to spawn that vehicle in.

He’s not calculating sorties per match or percentage of matches where a certain vehicle is being used, to my understanding. It’s % of all vehicle spawns at that br. So 1% would mean “at BR2, only 1% of all vehicles spawned were this specific vehicle.” Aka, 99% of the time players used any other vehicle than this one when spawning a vehicle of this type at an equivalent BR.
