like for real a tank that can take multiple full sized AP or HEAT shells is turned into a smoldering pile of flames by a single hand grenade…
i don’t think they would build million dollar machines that could be blown to shit by a $100 hand grenade… correct me if im wrong here…
i totally i agree there have bin so many times to where I have bin blown up grenades’ when my tank is at full health.
I remember being one-shotted by another tank from 150m away. It was kinda funny.
well if it was a HEAT shell in the right spot it will end up going right through all of your guys those shells are powerful as hell
I mean, you aren’t supposed to get close to infantry as a tanker. A lot of people would tell you are just bad at the game if you get killed by tnt in a tank. There is a reason why urban warfare was a nightmare for tanks. However I do agree they are little too effective. I have a tnt on every single one of my soldiers, and I’ve learnt to just one shot every and each tank. Imo tanks should suffer greatly in urban warfare/in middle of enemy infantry, but slightly less then currently.
yea same i got a couple grenade pouches on a few troopers just so i can whip 2 TNT’s to be sure the tanks going down, but yea honestly the 1st explosive should cripple the tank like take out its tracks and stuff it should take a 2nd explosive when the tanks in that condition to blow it up completely
Hand grenades cant blow up tanks in game. If you mean explosive packs, yes IRL explosive packs would blow up tanks no problem
I’m still relatively new to this game for a few weeks now, and this is the first time I’ve learned of these rounds. I’ll have to look into these. Thanks.
really…
then why has my M4A2 Sherman tank been taken out by a single hand grenade before… many times…
It hasn’t… hand grenades and explosive packs have the same grenade indicator. I’d definitely like to see the video of it considering I can sit any tank on top of them and it wont do any damage
same indicator since when o.o’ i remember grenades and explosive packs having different indicators
and yea i get the AT mines demoing a tank instantly cause they’re kinda designed to fuck tanks up lol but an explosive pack ehhh, thats still a lot of armour to go through, anything outside the main body would most likely be non-functional like the track/wheels and the primary/secondary turrets, but i doubt the 1st pack would erase the tank.
The Explosive pack in game has the same explosive equivalent as the M8 Scott’s HE rounds. 1.2 kg of explosives is a lot. Especially when diectly beneath or on top of a tank. As for different indicators:
Do these look different?
guess it was changed in an update or something i remember the explosive packs indicator being a tiny version of itself. maybe i just wasn’t paying attention when the change happened.
and still that’s besides the point, some tanks iv shot at can take 3 or even 4 shots before they blow up, like iv had people shooting at my sherman with their tanks and i take upwards of like 15 shots straight to the face before i blow up, but yet a single explosive completely detonates that same tank from 100% durability in a single shot
either way we could argue this all day but unless one of us has an old army tank, an explosive charge of TNT and a crapload of ballistic gel we cant really say what would really happen, im just looking at it from a physics point of view
Honestly seems pretty realistic.
While I don’t own a WW2 tank, I do have an internet connection, and the internet happens to be full of footage of modern tanks getting destroyed by a single rocket/missile. Searching a bit more I found this clip of a tank getting destroyed by something like an explosive pack: https://youtu.be/zk7ZpBbf5uQ?t=331
If someone was throwing their explosive packs with as little care as someone mindlessly firing 15 shots into the front of a tank they wouldn’t be getting a kill either. If you don’t cook it and aim it properly you aren’t going to get anything.
And a “100% durability” tank is meaningless. Put a single tank shell or anti-tank rifle shot into the right spot and it’s just as easy to one-shot.
you do realize most of those clips are of javelin missiles…
and as for that specific clip it looks like he got the shit right in the hatch the way the preliminary plume goes off, the secondary explosion when the shells inside the take went off is what caused that huge 50 foot flame
lol as for the magnitude of bomb the tanks in those clips are getting hit with lol their like 3-5 times larger then the explosive charge
To quote this article: Conventional-Explosions-and-Blast-Injuries (sccm.org)
1 kg of TNT (less than the 1.2 kg in game) produces 230 kPA at point of origin. At 200 kPa buildings suffer from structural collapse. Meaning that flimsy 40 mm of side armor won’t hold up. 1 kg of TNT would also have a guaranteed lethal radius of 5 m due to overpressure.
4cm is pretty thick it looks something like this

a 230kPa is roughly 33.3 Psi
a 4cm thick hot rolled sheet of A36 steel has a Yield strength of 36,000 psi (248.211kPa) and Tensile strength of 58,000 psi (399.896kPa)
and im pretty sure they used better quality steel then A36 Hot Rolled for military tanks…
actually now that im looking at it the conversions are pulling some weird numbers so id disregard the psi - kPa numbers for now o.o’
i mean irl tanks who charged into infantry without any cover generally died pretty quick. tanks in this game are similar, your best off being far away or somewhere you know where your allies will kill people who get too close
