That works on Berlin and Moscow maps, Normandy has a very few cases where you can stay far enough. Because of short distances of engagement, “covering” infantry gets wiped in seconds, multiple times I was blown up right outside of the infantry spawn, it’s just too easy to sneak up on those maps.
And as was said in another thread, because of how effective explosive packs are, AT squads become irrelevant, they are just a waste of time now. On Moscow maps, bots pull out AT rifles and start shooting at infantry, which makes them super slow to move around.
On OBT release in Moscow campaign, I’ve been shot with AT rifle quite a few times, now that is not happening anymore, seams that people just gave up and rely on explosive packs.
You can’t blame players for using AT rifles against infantry. They are unreliable af against tanks. And AT rifles are insane against infantry and also very satisfying.
I’m not blaming players, I’m blaming AI.
idk I haven’t had much trouble finding good spots for tanks on Normandy except in urban heavy maps which is how it should be. defense maps are especially good for this since you can expect most enemies to come from one direction.
and also as a tanker the best way to not get killed by explosive packs is to move as soon as infantry get near. Unless they are primed to the last second you can easily reverse away from them, and if they are primed that way then they cant throw it that far. You have to be proactive but its by no means impossible to not die from a close encounter
That’s half of the maps on Normandy.
Yes I know how to tank, but there isn’t much I can do when a single Rambo can just flank and blow you up in the middle of the friendly troops. This doesn’t happen on Moscow because there is not that much foliage and jagged terrain to hide behind.
On Normandy tanks are too situational, like if we take beach as example, it’s useful for defending first two points. After that, to have any visibility and not sit directly on the point, you have to take hills, where you get blown up by infantry as hills are so easy to flank on.
I wish there where stats, we could simply look at it to confirm the trend.
so like the tanks are situationally good? like a lot of squads in this game? and its not like your sacrificing a squad slot to have them (unless your f2p) so I don’t really see the problem of them not being the best everywhere on every stage of the map. In the areas they do excel at, they dominate and it’s super easy to top score by just mowing down infantry as they cross your sightline. if a squad flanks all the way around the map to get behind your secure position and kill you then more power to them.
I’m not sure how many campaigns you’ve played. Tanks, MGs, snipers, Engineers and regular squads, work fine on Moscow campaign. There is a place and a role for everyone. On pretty much every map, beside the city that largely the least favorite in the community, you have both “urban” or dense spots and open space between them. Tanks help to push through open space then infantry deals with the dense area. There are no super flanking involved because you or your bots will be spotted and you will have to fight through enemy troops to get to the tank, unless he rolls forward and ends up without support.
The same goes for snipers, mg and engineering teams, that can cover open space or a specific flank.
On Normandy, most of this goes into trash because of map designs, any “open space” there is covered with rubble, hills, dugout, blast holes, bushes and trees. This is design reminiscent of BF, where the main goal is to make an impression of open space and provide a crap ton of cover, so anyone with their smg can get close to the enemy line.
people will tell you that you aren’t playing tanks right but it sidetracks the argument that you are right, TNT is the best anti tank weapon in the game. Bomber squads are irrelevant. I regularly throw away a squad to kill a tank which is easy
Wasnt the M8 HE round anti personnel though? Ap for tanks.
i can stand being blown up by explosion pack thrown below my tank, but over my tank not even touching it? xD is it some kind of joke or smh
it is good to see driving tank is kinda hard but its durabiility is pathetic
Larger calibers blast away tanks too, just need to hit on the thinner side of armor.
Yeah i agree, perhaps TNT should be limmited to AT guys and Engineers, as it is now AT guys are really not worth playing, as it is much easyer just bomb a tank with TNT.
I think this is the point, perhaps all soldiers get grenades as default with exception of special classes, then people would really on AT classes more, currently my AT is actually just a good assault squad, with TNT
agreed that battlefield is too small for warmashins, so they often easily get surrounded and exploded. devs should increase scale and make infantry and tanks cooperate
Oh man… and ofc as always, even at Enlisted they will cater to the mass and destroy the game the same way they did with WT.
Stay with your infantry and be mobile, I had games with 0 deaths in my M4A2 killing 140+ enemies , 400assists, 6 K score etc… I survived 2 sturmpistole hits and 3 demo packs loosing 2 crew members and other 3 being injured for rest of the game I had to rep my tracks twice.
If you are stationary without infantry cover you are dead, we are engaging at really close ranges in Enlisted where the infantry can directly reach you.
If you throw a cooked demo pack under tank ofc it is going to blow up, if you throw it on top of a tank the same result will happen… You know armor is thin there compared to side or front armor.
You can still survive demo packs from the side.
You can dodge the demo packs, you have even the indicator, if the enemy inf. cooks it, your mistake, you are dead because you are out of position.
I prefer demo squads with Piat, I am using them in all my squads, for example on normandy you can destroy enemy armor reliably up to 150m… you can not reach them with demo packs so now they are fine.
Just try to think about positioning, when you need to move, when you can stay stationary, how would you attack your own tank if you were enemy inf. ?
proofs, boi
Yeah, agreed. Why carry a hand granade when TNT is more versatile in every way. With that 50% throwing range perk I am sometimes sorry when I start catapulting them towards enemies going towards the trench I hold. It looks like full battery of 105mm guns shooting…
Agreed. I would also do the same.
Do I have to post you screenshots ? If so I have to make them but first - I need to play which will be probably during weekend as I am busy working as usual during weeks… And even then what do you want to see ? 10 screens of me being alive whole game with wrecked crew ? or me instead of playing the game trying to take screens and die in process ?
And excuse me but who in here are you calling a boy… Go call your kid boy but not a random human on internet…
