STEN mk.II (airborne)

STEN mk.II (airborne)

STEN mk.II with STEN bayonet mk.I

Hello bajtársak and fellow forumwdwellers,
There is no official designation as “airborne” STEN, I merely dubbed a STEN mk.II in a specific configuration with this name because it was mostly seen with British paratroopers.

The most striking feature of this gun is the STEN bayonet mk.I, this is a very rare accessory that most STEN mk.II guns have never been attached with.
It is only compatible with the STEN mk.II and cannot be attached to any other model.
The STEN bayonet mk.I is just as crude as the weapon it is meant to be used with; in essence its a 3mm wide and “8 inches long” spike blade welded to a tubular sheet-steel socket with an integrated spring catch and finger guard. The total length of the full attachment is 279 mm and its weight is no more than 0.26 kg or 9 1/2 ounces.
It had seen very little use and most were thrown away after the war.

The other feature of this gun is the “T style” stock which was a stereotypical characteristic of British produced STEN guns because they were the most common. Though it is a false internet myth that British STENs were only produced with the T stock and in reality, factories in Britain also produced stocks in the “loop style”.
Mk.II stocks are generally interchangeable anyway, so it is pointless to get too caught up on the matter.

The T-stock is already in the game on the STEN mk.III and was the most common on the STEN mk.II as well. In-game we have a Canadian STEN mk.II with “loopstock”

Because the T stock is slightly inferior to the Canadian made loopstock the in-game STEN mk.II is attached with, the STEN mk.II (airborne) would have very slightly more recoil which would be counter balanced by the bayonet mechanics that gives a minor recoil reduction buff.
Ultimately, the STEN mk.II (airborne) would be a bit different STEN with a unique appearance and bayonet, same BR, same overall stats as the Tech Tree counterpart.

A demonstration video of British paratroopers scrambeling to get their equipment after landing, at 0:50 a STEN mk.II equipped with a STEN bayonet mk.I is visible.

please give it to a canadian unit my friends been desperate for something more than passing mention of his country

More Canadian or Commonwealth representation in general would be highly welcome, however this gun is specifically meant to give players a British made variant of the STEN mk.II, since the one we have in the game is a Canadian (Long Branch) made gun.

Maybe Canadian paratroopers with Bren mk.III instead of this gun?

Could be used on an event paratrooper squad. Or if added to TT, we could finally get TT paratroopers.
