Stalingrad Bolt Action Effectivity - Please also for other campaigns!

I haven’t found in the changelog what exactly they changed as hit power is the same as in other campaigns but I’m sure I’m not imagining things as bolt action rifles feel completely different in Stalingrad than in other campaigns - and I very much love it!

Just played a few missions Tunesia yesterday and it’s a difference like day and night. In Stalingrad you get the feeling that even your beginner bolt action rifle is a deadly tool, killing with one shot and making kills therefor feel very rewarding and brutal fitting to the nature of war compared to the very arcadish feel that SMGs still give.

Yet in Tunisia - and other campaigns - you constantly will see people getting downed instead of being killed and requiring a second or more shots or even the white marker for only having done just a minor bit of damage. To be honest it’s a gameplay barely bearable once you have gotten a taste of Stalingrads Bolt Action feeling.

Therefor dear devs - PLEASE add those fine bolt action mechanics also to the other campaigns as soon as possible. Especially Tunisia and Moscow, being very bolt-action-dependant, would benefit a lot.

You did not get the memo that they are testing changes in Stalingrad. So yes Stalingrad does not only feel different. It is.

I find the german semi performs poorly than most allied weapon. its the dispersion

I was aware of this and this thread is meant as positive feedback towards this test. I’m just not sure what they changed (less soldier HP?) but it works fine for bolt action rifles.

Hp must be identical, as smgs seem to do a bit less damage in Stalingrad. A good thing, we see less assaulters monkeys all around.

They increased damage on the bolt action guns. If you have the berdan in Moscow you would have same effect.

Im simply wondering because Kar98k e.g. has the same 14.0 Hit power in Stalingrad as it has in Tunisia.

It should be higher. Menu might display wrong info as we know this is a thing. Smg’s should have lower damage.

As they did state the following.

The damage of bolt-action rifles at close and medium range will grow significantly: shots will more often lead to an enemy death and at close range, a lethal outcome is guaranteed. On the other hand, damage on submachine guns will decrease a bit.

The damage number is one thing but the internal game mechanics that state what you are hit by will be a silent mechanic we cannot see or quantify other than the fact that in Stalingrad it OHKs most people.
And I love it.
It needs to come to other campaigns now.

It would mean most smg/lmg spammers will dislike it, simple bolties might best them!

Well considering I die from bolties 80 percent of the time won’t notice much of a difference besides dying more

Ah, but those bolt action kills were from bots, mostly. Now there will also be more experienced players using them to great effect. Really satisfying to delete an entire assaulter squad with a single bolt action.

To be fair I would also at least make the experiment to grant SMGs more damage in exchange for making it noticeably harder for them to control the recoil. I think reducing the damage was a bit of an awkward choice as you will now have situations where you seem to put 2 bullets into someone at very close range but he might still come out on top for shooting a milisecond after and OHK you with his rifle.

The recoil rework of the smg’s in Stalingrad is kind of perfect i don’t think they need to reduce the damage of them anymore as they will just be paintball guns. And we don’t need that because this isnt a cod/battlefield clone :slight_smile:

But I wrote MORE damage. To me the kind of perfect realism was RO2 where especially the PPSh kicked like a mule if fired from the hip but didn’t played like some Call of Duty where you would take 3-4 hits before you go down.

Oh God yeah, I already do really good on the Bridge to Kroll Opera house, can’t even imagine what my Label squad would do if I got them with the new BA damage model.
