No. HMGs were either higher caliber, or had an active cooling mechanism to allow them to fire for much longer.
MMGs used physcal properties of mounts to get more range than a LMG.

WHAT? MG34 and MG42 are general-purpose machine guns (GPMG). They were ment to be used by infantry (LMG role), as HMG (on tripod), as light AA gun, as aircraft gun, as vehicle gun.
If we stick to german names than those guns were HMG when on tripod.
What you are talking about is what allies concidered as HMGs.

But mounting it on tripod =/= HMG. That is MMG.
Germans NEVER used the term HMG. They would refer to 13mm guns as machine cannons, for example. The correct term would roughly translate to MMG, in terms of how MMG is defined.
“Schweres maschinengewehr” was german term for MG on tripod.
They were used as HMGs so according to geran way of naming they are conciedred HMGs. Just like panther was mediun tank but had weight of heavy tank.
They used something called Lafette mounts and were used in what would nowadays be considered the MMG role.
These guns did not have the prolonged firepower of an actual HMG because of the lack of either the larger cartridge, or active cooling system.

I’ve heard it many times. MG 34 and 42 are my favourite weapons of WW2 and trust me I spent more time than I should trying to learn sth about them.

Well, if you want to give germans lafette mount as normal equipment than I’m all in! I would love to finaly see one in a game.
I would rather make it as HMG to balance it but is you say so.
I mean, there might have been a point somewhere in there but that’s been lost. Just like how an anecdotal comparison to the KV-1 turned into an actual argument about adding the KV-1
