In the meantime, I continue to try to get a drum-fed PPSh near Moscow.
Last time I suggested adding a “rusty” PPSh with characteristics degraded to the extent that it would be sufficient for BR3.
However, not everyone liked the idea of introducing a corrupted version of the weapon from the TT. So today I’ll be offering a mass-produced, simplified PPSh, which, so to speak, was “born this way.”
In the first months of the war, the Soviet Union was in dire straits, desperately needing automatic weapons. Arms and ammunition production was expanded across the country by every means possible. Women began working en masse in the mines, and children in the factories.
However, this explosive expansion inevitably impacted the quality of the final products. Factories suffered from shortages of materials, machine tools, and qualified workers. And sometimes even the newly formed “factories” were almost like handicraft workshops. This led to non-compliance with production technology, simplified designs, poor component and assembly quality, and the use of low-quality materials.
So, I propose adding a PPSh (simplified design) or (early war) to the BR3.
I can’t give you an exact description of what this weapon looked like. However, I can say that, on average, these PPShs were more “boxy”, had poorer quality finish on the metal and wood surfaces, and rusted more easily, than those produced with proper technology.
This example looks completely square. However, it was built from scratch by partisans in a forest workshop and this is not exactly our case. For an example of how simplification makes things look more square.

To avoid imbalances, each player should receive no more than 3-4 of these PPShs per event. Consider the example of an event squad with Dolganov PPD-44s. There aren’t many of them and they don’t affect the overall balance in any way.
BR3 weapons should be something between BR2 and BR4 weapons (Seriously? Really?)
Therefore, let the PPSh (simplified design/early-war) play as something between the sawed-off PPSh and the PPD-34 with a drum magazine. Or like the PPD-34 with reduced accuracy, rate of fire, and damage. Any downgrades are necessary to make this weapon simply suitable for BR3.
Again.
I don’t want to give the Soviets an overpowered weapon. I just want to use submachine guns with drum magazines near Moscow. Because they are the most recognizable automatic weapons from the battles near Moscow. And it doesn’t matter how ineffective they are compared to the PPS and PPSh with a box magazine. I just want a drum. That’s all.
