The 47 and 60 mm can both be fired like normal mortars which would be a waste. They also clearly have a shoulder pad allowing it to be fired at extremely low angles or even directly. Combining the best aspects of a recoilless rifle and a mortar to create something that works like a grenade launcher and a rpg. would be great at br 2 or 3 as an event or battle pass weapon. Will look for more shoulder mortars that could be used by the remaining factions but am not sure that they exist
Sounds pretty interesting.
Firing mortars horizontally? I think this could be a new mechanic added to all mortars. That way, in tight long corridors of Berlin fortifications or Pacific cave bunkers, mortars could switch to an assault mode to help push, instead of being useless.
The problem is that a lot of mortars are kinda “slam fire” based. As in there’s a stationary firing pin at the bottom that you have to let the shell strike hard enough to fire, meaning they’re practically impossible to use effectively on the move or at a flatter angle. The two mortars mentioned here, and the other shoulder fired mortars we have, have trigger mechanisms, making it possible to be used both ways, but the drawback is a slower fire rate.
