Separate BR V from BR IV

I am suggesting this change due to the following reasons:

Game Balancing

  • The balancing difference between BR IV with its semi-automatic rifles, medium tanks and prop planes in contrast to BR V’s select-fire rifles, heavy tanks and jet fighters is greater than between any other two distinct battle ratings in the game

WW2 Authenticity

  • I consider BR IV to embody an incredibly iconic time period of WW2, both in terms of general feel and aesthetic, but try actually play in it, and you’ll see how often it’ll end up in a BR V hotchpot of rejected designs, prototypes and hypothetical what-ifs that barely resembles history anymore

BR Popularity

  • In contrast to BR IV, BR V is sufficiently popular as is and doesn’t need the small playerbase of BR IV enjoyers to keep queue times low. On the other hand there are many people who reject the idea of playing in BR IV entirely simply because they want to stay away from BR V content

Other Reasons

  • Less frustration for new players progressing through BR IV towards BR V for their first time
  • A higher chance of them actually liking BR V, since their first experience with it won’t be tainted
  • Greater gameplay variety, because right now BR IV’s low population basically guarantees upranks

Yes, because I want this for ALL brs.

I would also love if each BR only queued against the same BR. The gap between the beginning of BR X and fully maxed BR X+1 is crazy. We could even widen the tech tree tiers by one item to allow enough room for good diversity in each BR.

The game is impossible to balance adequately where there is such a wide range of weapons and vehicles you can face in any given match. I picked a random nation and BR to look at: Germany BR3. There are 25 different weapons, 15 tanks, and 5 planes as of today’s date, and many more will be added in the coming years. Trying to balance all of those against every weapon and vehicle in BR2, 3, and 4 of two other nations is a hopeless task.

I know this would have an impact on queue times, but I think the obvious solution is to allow you to queue for each nation + BR separately with check boxes. That way you’d likely have tons of players queueing up for multiple BRs per nation once their squads are all situated. I would probably queue all 4 nations BR1-3 under that system, which would make it real easy on the queues.

When the merge first happened, BR5 was fine. But there’s been so much power creep it’s insane to think that the top half of it couldn’t be in a separate BR.

This and a buff for BR1 as a whole would go great lengths for helping with the biggest balancing issues the game currently faces.

I just want this so people can stop crying that their weapons from a previous tier are less powerful than the top one… along with using it as a reason certain things can’t be added or have to be nerfed etc etc.

I agree about the power creep, the original line-up of BR V was nothing like what BR V looks like today. Just now with the D-Day event the US allies got their best tank so far (M6A2E1), which is a straight up rejected design that never even saw combat once.

New shiny upgrades keep getting crammed into BR V but not into BR IV, which only leads to the balance discrepancy between these two battle ratings increasing over time.

It’s a valid reason to adjust things to BR5 when they will face BR4. You can’t just keep adding stronger and stronger things to BR5 without at least looking at how they will impact the matchup against BR4.

Or maybe don’t be a masochist and play 4 when you know it’s weaker than 5.

Every BR is weaker than the one above it. The problem arises when the difference becomes too large to be at all balanced. By your own choice of words you acknowledge that the difference between BR4 and BR5 is too large to be acceptable. No one calls people playing BR2 masochists just because they can face BR3, nor is that the case for BR3 facing BR4.

So the solution is to give them their own queue… not adding more powerful things won’t change what we already have… you just want to dumb down BRV because it’s better than 4.

News flash BR3 is much much better than 2.

There is a noticeable jump in power from 10-15 rd semis to battle rifles… the solution for that isn’t making battle rifles harder to use it’s to give them their own queue.

I do not appreciate you putting words in my mouth… i have no problem playing 4 and facing 5… i don’t think it’s unacceptable at all… like i said instead of getting own queue you’d rather opt to nerfing 5.

Furthermore if any of the players who did play it had half a brain they’d only do it for Soviets and Germany in which case it’s not bad whatsoever.

Why should BR5 get special treatment? If there’s something too strong in BR3 it gets nerfed so why should BR5 be any different?

Hm. Didn’t know sherman 105, kretz p13, winchester m1907, and xa 38 were uptiered.

Why? Because it’s for people who are different… instead you’d rather dumb it down to be fairer to 4? Again… just give it its own queue… the jump is way too big to “nerf”

Describe some of the nerfs you’d like to 5 to make 4 easier.

I voted no, because it would split the matchmaking significantly (literally why the merge was implemented) and because i would like the BRs smoothed out so that they have better chance to compete with uptiers.

I do believe that BR 5 select fire rifles need a nerf to bring them slightly more inline with BR 4 and more content added to BR 4 and BR 1. I believe things need to be shifted left (MkB 42H to BR 4 for example) and definitely a lot more content and things brought down into BR 1 (APCs & the first TT LMG)

Some Tier 5 weapons need to be downgraded so that the development of Tier 4 weapons can be rebalanced, rather than simply separating Tier 4 and Tier 5 campaigns.

When only bots and 10 players remain in game, then Gaijin will announce a change to this pathetic MM for BR1 and BR4.

I stopped playing BR1 (which I really like) because I’m tired of battles dominated by generals with PPS43. I feel sorry for newbies without complete squads, weapons, etc. In each battle, BR1 vehicles are annihilated by BR2.

BR4 specifically would be amazing if not being forced into BR5 all the time - that being said these BR limitations can cause other unwanted issues.

BR3 which is right now very nice to play because it almost never meets BR4, would drastically change.

Then again, BR2 also too often meets BR3 these days.

I would suspect when limiting BR4 specifically to never meet BR5 - then we would make BR2 more enjoyable, but thus BR3 and BR1 less enjoyable.

Also I think since this would result in BR5 only fighting BR5 - that one would become alot more serious.

And people complain how BR5 is much stronger than BR4…

Playing with dogshit 500 RPM SMGs against PPS43 and body armor is literally unplayable.

All the more reason for the BRs to be blended more evenly. I don’t know why everyone has such issues with moving things into BR 1 from BR 2. Lots of things need to shift left.
