Right, I've confirmed the next campaign

Playing around with the new editor, and for better or worse, now know the next campaign is pacific_guadalcanal.

If you don’t know Guadalcanal is the capital of the Solomon Islands, and where the Guadalcanal campaign took place between 7 August 1942 and 9 February 1943.

If a dev sees this and doesn’t want it to be know yet please delete the thread.

after tunisia in the game files, US_assault_Boat appeared (idk if they are still there) it was already known for some time that after tunisia there would be: stalingrad or the pacific but I am still happy to know that they are working on the pacific campaign, instead of guadalcanal I would have preferred okinawa or the Philippines, I see guadalcanal difficult to balance because the Japanese were not modernized with weapons compared to other nations

I see no reason to be happy, because with a probability of 95% the next campaign will not be free

If it is like Stalingrad I will be happy.

if that is the case I guess I will just finish the free campaigns and quit the game, don’t have any more money to waste.

Yeah balancing the Japanese forces is going to be interesting. Rifles could be a problem unless they keep the US faction limited to bolt actions. Japanese forces would be alright when it comes to smgs and lmgs. I’m not a big vehicle buff so I’m not sure how to balance that.

I mean, it’s not the 2nd Sino-Japanesse war or Burma, which is a shame, but this isn’t bad either. So hopefully it is actually this and not Kursk.

Maybe it could be the chance to try some sort of asymetrical balance, like hard as hell beach landings for the americans and more advantageous strategic points for the japanese, to compensate the armament disparity and not fill the japanese ranks with fantasy weapons or weakening too much the americans

Same hear. I do spend around 70€ and will not pay again 30€ for just one campaign or for only one premium Tank.

You are a little too late for that prediction.

P2W enjoyers :joy: :joy:

More like “pay a moderate price to reduce the grind within actually reasonable and enjoyable levels” enjoyers.

It has the best weapons behind a paywall so it is a P2W campaign. It would have been a “pay to reduce grind” if only it didnt have paywalled stuff on it. The price was ok even if it only gave you quicker progress and not P2W levels

You would be correct, except that the bolt-action buff makes starter rifles highly effective and competitive even against late campaign stuff.

Wanna say it’s got P2W elements? Fine, but the margin given by paywalled content is very limited and can be effectively negated by using free stuff with even just moderate skill.

I mean, I maxed both sides pre-patch and yet most of my grunts still proudly wield Kars and Mosins

Skill being equal (as we compare all things in a game) a player who buys Stalingrand has way more advantages than one who doesnt. It is a clear P2W situation. Also i am not even going to comment on the argument that BA rifles are competitive against an AVT or an MkB

Do you play Stalingrad?

If not, try and THEN comment.

Would be interesting if to balance out they implement new mechanics, a bit like in Red Orchestra Orchstra 2 Rising Storm.

Superior armed usa troops, but bonus for Japanese like:

  • no point lost when suicide bombing with planes
  • no point loss when suiciding with grenades
  • more booby traps for Japanese factions, like tripwires etc.
  • banzai charge bonus making troops a tad more resistant to small arm fire.
  • etc.

All those things were in Rising Storm and worked wonderfully, perhaps DF could pull out something like that.

It seems we are halfway there.

Easier to implement:

Japanese squads having more men while costing less reinforcements to deploy.
