Revert "fix" on mortars again

Alright, this thread is also partially a salty rant. because desire to nerf mortars was here ever since CAT when was discovered how abusable and cancerous this is. After the update yesterday, everything was nice and fancy, we finaly got rid of the mortar spam and higher artillery cooldown helped to improve things around as well.
Little we knew, this requested nerf finaly happening was actually a bug…

And that bug was fixed in patch today, turning mortar spammer problem into huge cancerous tumor it was before.

Suggestion:
As this “fix” made the game significantly worse again by enabling mortar spammers to continue with this, I therefore propose very simple fix to this situation.

Either revert this “fix” (thus, mortars should NOT be enabled to get ANY ammo from engineers at all) or very significantly nerf the ability of mortars getting ammo from engineers.

@Keofox please, if there is no intention of doing so, we need information why devs think this is a good idea and mortar spam should continue ruining the matches.

That sucks as games were pretty good last night and mortar teams are still pretty powerful at 20 rounds.

Its easy to cure, but the devs seem to be of the mindset of “oh, cancer is just infinite cellular regeneration so we’ll be immortal if we keep it. All those other things we hear about it are just fake news.”

Mortars pre-yesterday: The most broken thing in the game. No counter, ability to rack up hundreds of kills with no threat to yourself.
Mortars yesterday: Situational. Still capable of racking up 20 kills in 30 seconds when used properly without anyone spotting for you.
Mortars today: Back to square one.

I wonder how many of you complainers are Axis Normandy mains?

Mortars have a place in the Meta, specially for the Allied in normandy who have to specifically attack very small areas of a map against superior defensive guns, that’s also why the asymmetrical balance of 2 airplanes and a strong tank exist.

Having played both sides more and more I find it interesting that the balance choices don’t bother me nearly as much as when I played only one side.

Bruh what? Every nation have mortars and every nation can abuse shit out of them. This is not nation exclusive. (But if you really wanna know, then I use only random matchmaker on all campaigns, so I´m not “main” of anything… just to kill that argument entirely)

The amount of things that just broke with an update LMFAO

Now there is even more powerful artilleries. You don’t need a second artillery call after 48 sec because everyone’s dead by then. Now there is buffed mortar that can be fired infinitely. There is also the buffed plane bombs and rockets spam.

Ah yes… Another player who just assumes that everyone who complains just mains one specific side. Even when the whole point all those players are making has nothing to do with those nations and everything to do with the fact it has no counter and can single handedly lock down objectives with no threat to the user.

you weren’t the argument, sorry to make you think you are the sole person who has an opinion, you truly are not.

I meant this nonsensical argument you used against suggestion to nerf mortars.

So let me repeat it again: EACH nation have mortar and engineers. EACH nation can do this. It is not “axis team exclusive.”

Of course, I agree with mortars needing changes, I’ve even posted suggestions and options and thoughtful discourse on the subject itself.

I’ve had 100 kill games where i lost 0 soldiers, its wrong, in every way for a mortar to live with impunity while destroying an enemy objective.

They need to mark the mortar on the map be it with a tracer round that can be tracked backwards, a ping on the map, or bigger launch puffs that can actually be spotted. It probably needs a slightly less ROF, and definitely needs to sap an ammo box stronger to force respawning of the squad when engineers run out of supplies.

But hey, lets just all throw a hissy without any actual objective options to give the devs, I’m sure they will listen to the ‘please be extreme’ option on something they obviously want in the game.

Reverting this “fix” is actually not “extreme”. You are perfectly capable of getting lot of kills even without infinite ammo as we could see yesterday.
As I already explained in the main topic, I was salty because this was requested ever since CAT (closed alpha testing) or so. Options how to nerf this were explored each time this was suggested as well.

Mortars were useless without the extra ammo is the worst argument of the day. Mortars were wiping out entire squads due to the damage buff. Now they can do it for the whole game instead of 1-2 minutes per mortar men.

Just got done a game where our top player had 100+ kills, literally everyone else (on both teams) had no more than 16 because there was no one to kill.
Game ends, and you can guess who got best mortarman in post-game stats lmao. Easiest game of my life

I don’t think it has any real effect, I have never personally witnessed this crazy mortar-spam that everyone here cries over.
