Ahh yes if a plane doesnt kill me with a bomb a tank will HE me. If that misses it will be a mortar. If THAT doesnt get me artillery will. Then MAYBE at some point if I survive to reach the objective I’ll get shot
It got pretty bad at some points in Berlin. Straight up couldn’t defend the point because of the stun and constant AOE damage while the enemy could waltz right in unmolested.

They really reverted nerf? Ok then, because 10 rounds max was just ridiculous. Today i got under mortar fire and wondered why this guy has so many rounds. Then again…not a big deal. Mortars are not that precise, they are still hit or miss and as an infantrymen you can walk around them. Just don’t go through the same path every round
because open top caps have more paths how to get past them huh…
But hey, I guess that one player singlehandedly killing any hope for enemy to cap at least first point is completely fine, because YoU cAn Go ThE oThER WaY lOl

Pro tip: in the interim, you can use flamethrowers and molotovs on mortars in your spawn

It’s pretty hard to tell the difference between being Mortared and Artillery. I personally believe the Artillery complaints are a combination of the two.
Playing the Mortar and Radio squads to completion. I feel the Mortar squad is way more powerful and pretty OP.
Just reduce amount of carried mortar shells to 5 and everyone will be happy
10 + 3 x (10 x 10) = 310 mortar shells
5 + 3 x (10 x 5) = 155 mortar shells

I see this is issue only if cap point is open air , otherwise than that just rush through if you have to. I’ve play w/ infantry a lot and very rarely seen mortarmen who bombard 1 sector of map all the time and don’t change their target. And even mortarmen get flanked 1 time out of 3 or get destroyet by plane bombs thrown at spawn areas. To fix OP mortar strikes on open air cap points i suggest inventing heating metter on mortars or allow less ammo refills for them. But i’m still glad they reverted it because allowing only 10 rounds to mortar is not a solution but more like taking away mortars it’s main purpose. I hope developers come up with better solution soon and both sides will be happy.
Or we could keep it at no resupply and they use the 20 shells. Making the unit a situational unit and not a spam unit with no counterplay like so many want it to be.
Just lay down fire right after the cap on the enemies path to the cap. You even kind of want to do that on open caps as you’ll allow your friendlies better positioning without all the screen shake.
I typically do 10-15 yards past the cap and arc them left, center, right. It’s pretty boring chilling in the gray zone though.
The main problem if you ask me is that mortars are very low risk, high reward, low skill.
Either risk needs to be raised, reward lowered, skill floor raised, or a combination.
No offense but for me that sounds like envy that noobs can also have fun and get killstreaks, lol. Of course that doesn’t mean that only noobs use mortars and it doesn’t mean that noob who takes mortar squad will instantly get 50+ mortar kills, as they’re still pretty much hit or miss especially on conquest maps. Not everyone can be pilot or tank master, i think the more diverse posibilities, the more fun game is for everyone. But still let’s hope devs will come up with a new, better thought out solution soon.
Mortars have no counterplay and the crowd that came screeching about their crutch getting nerfed really shows the type that sits there and spams them from their spawn.
