a redesigned progression tree would greatly benefit the game, my idea for this would be as follows
stage 1
1.1 splitting squads, vehicles and weapons apart so now they are two different unlocks (so you can unlock a AT squad but you will also have to unlock the AT weapon separately)
1.2 adding the ammo bags and bags as well as mines to this new tree
satge 2
2.1 dividing all the equipment in the game into three tiers, low-medium-high tier
2.2 dividing all the weapons in the game into three tiers, low-medium-high tier
2.3 dividing all the vehicles in the game into three tiers, low-medium-high tier
2.4 incorporated squads into the low-medium tier to help deflate high tier and inflate low tier
stage 3
3.1 replacing the level unlocks with instead a generic unlock token
3.2 add three different unlock tokens, low-medium-high tier unlock tokens
3.3 unlocking low tier tokens for each level and every third level will give you mid tier and every 10 will give you a high tier token
3.4 add prerequisites to certain things EG.
-you need to unlock the m4a2 before you can unlock the m4a3e8 or the m4a1 76mm
you need to unlock the MP28 so you can unlock the mp38- mp 40
you need to unlock the roks 2 afore the roks 3
you need to unlock the PZ3A then PZ3b afore the PZ3e and so forth
there is one small problem with this but
this would require the vehicle squads to become inter changeable with tanks and vice versa with the airframes
now sure there would be a little extra grind but overall, so in other words “you dont have to grind thought a WHOLE tech tree to get what you want, you only have to grind though apart of it”
but then it should not be a problem adding extra things into campaigns with out making it harder to get the top shelf stuff
so the panther A, t60, t70 and KV1 can be added to berlin as all were used for the entire war
the PZ 3E, PZ3J, PV4 F1, PZ4 F2 and PZ4 E can be added to Normandy
the PZ2 C and t60 can be added to Stalingrad
let players play the game they want to with in reason
no one is going to get hurt by playing a T60 in berlin
let players enjoy the game, dont try and force them to enjoy it by regulating
Why would I want to grind my way up to the sniper squad only to not have the sniper rifle unlocked alongside it? Or grind my way to the machinegun squad and then not have a machinegun unlocked to utilize.
Why separate weapons into their own tech tree and make it so I don’t have unlocks unlocked when I need them while also increasing the interface’s complexity and information load.
New players already find separate campaign levels for each campaign annoying, I can’t imagine telling them that there’s now 3, 4, or 5+ campaign levels for each campaign would go over well (I’m not sure if you’re advocating each weapon class has it’s own campaign level or weapons in general are their own tree).
You already unlock the mp-28 before the mp-40, the roks 2 before the roks 3, why complicate it? One thing I would agree with is locking high-tier weapons to high-tier squads. That seems like a reasonable way to me to avoid the STG spam.
As for adding more vehicles, I agree on the stipulation that the new vehicles bring something new. We don’t need more vehicles for the sake of more vehicles, we need more vehicles that fulfill different roles and playstyles. Rocket tanks were a good step in that direction. If porting vehicles from one campaign to another meets that criteria, I’m all for it.
by the time you have the squad unlocked you would have spare tokens to unlock the sniper that you would want
to “give more content” as well as it would be a excuse to add just about any weapon that are inherently worse, like g98,g41 mg13, PPD’s and so forth in berlin with out having to have counter parts and letting players use weapons that they like
new players find that all the stuff that they would like to use, like the flamethrowers, M1 garand, SVTs and g43 are 15+ hours in and things like the tiger, IS2, heavy bombers and automatic rifles are +50 hours in, this suggestion would reduce that in time in half
completionist would enjoy it more as its more of a bragging right as there are more levels to do
again, just let players use what they would like to use, it hurts no one, and the files are aready there in the game when you are playing, there would be drawbacks other then you would get a useless team mate here and there
