It takes with premium 2,5 days of play time to finish a campaign (at least for me).
With War Thunder i got 90days.
I haven’t unlock one jet yet.
I just want to say that to make you understand that Gaijin is used to more grind in other games, and if there is no easy solution there will be no solution.
I’m personally ok with the current campaign grind system
I think what they could do is add another game mode that allows you to play all Campaigns in a single playlist just like the previous Even Fight event, that allows you to at least grind each campaign
Yup, them adding new campaigns is the worst thing they can do. It’s hard enough as it is to get a few players on each team. Seems like the devs are going for a cash grab rather than the longevity of the game based on their decisions.
i would sort weapons by year they were issued. and you could only play early campaigns with early weapons. if you select higher year weapon, you cant play early campaign anymore, just mid late campaigns. and with early weapons you could play all 3 campaingns.
Just rework campaigns into Fronts + a division between Early War Tech Battles / Late War Tech Battles.
Also implement uniform customization in a way that you can have say a Rifleman II squad with multiple uniform sets, so when you get a Normandy match your squad will have uniform set A but if you get a Bulge map you will have uniform set B. This way you won’t have to worry about for example US troops storming the beaches of Normandy wearing winter trench coats.
When choosing and equipping your squads in the menu, you’d be required to set up a dedicated lineup for each available theatre. While doing so, among the weapons and vehicles (and squads?) you own, only the ones allowed for the currently selected theatre would be available.
Once that’s done, it would also be easier to add a “play any theatre” option.
It rise another problem:
Right now, except for flammerII radioII and engineerII, there is no purpose to use anything else than the level I squads.
But seperating the weapon grind may be the best clue toward a solution.
We can imagine not unlocking weapons, but unlocking tiers.
For exemple, weapon already got tier right now.
It goes from 3 to 6 .
Let’s say you want tier 1 smg.
You grind the tech tree and unlock it.
In each campaign it could be something different.
Berlin T1 smg: mp38
Moscow T1 smg: mp34
Tunisia T1 smg: bereta
Then you want better smg, you have to unlock the tier2.
It’s a solution but it will be messy to understand as a new player because it’s already messy to explain.
“I habe unlock the mp38 in Berlin but it’s not available in this other campaign. BUG REPORT!!! GIVE BACK MY MONEY”
And another problem is that some campaign don’t have t3.
Right now the system is very simple:
In tunisa, lvl8 you got engineer squad with THIS weapon.
Simple. Don’t have to think.
problem is the year of the weapon. some 3 star weapons range from start of the century, towards 1943-1944 (e.g. m3). so cause of the year of the weapon (m3 in this example) you could only use it normandy, but it is 3 star weapon. and thompson that is 6 stars was available through entire war.
that is why it is better to have unlocks by year. you want to play tunis? well you must not select anything made from second half of 1943 onward. and allow obsolete equipment to enter later campaigns for memes
