Remove Bulge campaign from BR1-3 matchmaking

Though historical accuracy is no longer a major concern, maps are still loosely tied to BRs, battles that took place later in the war can be played by playing on higher BRs.
This is an interesting but imperfect feature that will still require more campaigns to work as intended. (But Veekay has already made everyone all too familiar with that anyway.)

Back in early 2024 when the Battle of the Bulge campaign was released it was only “temporarily” added (alongside Normandy campaign) to BR1-3 so new players could enjoy the new map as well, which became quite permanent by now.
By now everyone had his fair share of chances to play it, so it should become unique to BR3-5 because maps changing with BR gives a far more unique experience and a feel of “progression”.

Instead of the Bulge campaign, BR1-3 Axis and Allied players should see more Tunisia campaigns instead (which is the least likely to get campaign by the MM at the moment).

I believe it’s needless to say that enjoyers of low BR equipment can still enjoy the Bulge experience in all of its glory in custom matches.

i disagree.

maps shouldn’t be tied to br anyway.

offers much needed variety and diversity in the map pool.

as you and yourself said,

only exception, would be, as long the faction in question partecipated in it.
aka no soviets on normandy, no japanese in tunisa etc.

with that being said, i can see why some maps don’t appear in high br. such as tunisia or moscow.
those were not widely designed for latter equipment.

aka… tigers camping on some sand hills overlooking spawns and objectives.

What on this super open maps bombing them is much easier then in Berlin or outflanking them while on Berlin you have a single street good luck outflanking that king tiger xD

I Also believe in the future when we have enough maps maps should be tied to Tiers and not only people should have the ability to make preferable map for witch their build will be suited the most cuz this how the game was designed it makes sense to see Chinese divisions in Asia not in Europe .

I agree to a great extent.
It is very rare to see the Tunisian campaign when playing BR2~3 and I doubt if it is still in the game data or exists.

Why should there be exceptions if “all maps must be available to BRs”?

Than DF might as let delete BR based map selection.

because fundamentally, some do not have downsides from appearing in all brs.

for example, burma and battle of the bulge ( outside the barn point. effe that point ). balanced for all brs.

berlin could and should appear in low br.

personally, i believe moscow should too.
and on and on.

only exception i guess would be tunisia.
since it’s … rather poorly designed.

not so much the " vaste grounds of nothingness " but the fact that you can literally spawn camp and spawn kill enemy tanks with almost no effort involved EVEN at low br.

Bulge is by far the worst design of all campaigns, I could spend days on how poor cover is.
Tunisia is Godly compared to that, especially since they added tank wrecks to increase cover.

agree to disagree i’m afraid.

( outside the first point. no denying it’s rather aweful. )

I mean the H1 would be historically correct though

not quite since tigers were used on the offensive ( ideally. and most certainly around that period if we want to be precise )
as it was created to be a break through tank.

only later down the war they found out that they were more effective in defensive positions.

Berlin for low BR too! a shame its locked only for BR 3-5

We are gonna get soon the map or location filter as is teased multiple time, I believe BR restrictions would be lifted then if people can choose what locations don’t want play, but if instead the filter is something like

[Ban: Moscow (quarry south) axis]

BR restrictions are most probably gonna stay as they are now

Bulge is by far the worst map to play.
We have great maps in Tunisia but I see them rarely
because of that stupid bulge map.
And just the idea of br1-3 fighting in bulge breaks the immersion.

Atleast bulge has some trees that cover vision. Tunisia on the other hand…

they should tbh

Lately I have been getting Tunisia quite a bit playing level two Germans

As of now Bulge on low BR is indeed ridiculous.

It’s the snowy winter of 1944-45 and we see pre-war sandy British tanks fight against Italian self-propelled guns, as sea planes and biplanes fly above us…

Honestly it wouldn’t even be so bad if there was some kind of equipment-to-map linking system (oh wait that was tested for a whole weekend on an almost empty test server so = bad lol), like Kar 98, MP 40 and Stug 3 vs M1903, Grease Gun and M5A1 Stewart doesnt sound insane despite being low BR.

I had a similar idea, incorporating some maps, for example:

Soviets in low BR would play in: Stalingrad, Moscow, Rzhev

And in High BR they would play in: Berlin, Tannenberg, Crimea or Sevastopol, any of those 2

USA in low BR would play in: Tunisia, Sicily, Guadalcanal, Gavutu, New Georgia

And in High BR they would play in: Iwo Jima or Okinawa, Burma, Philippines (or another map that is not a landing)

Germans in low BR would play in: Tunisia, Sicily, Stalingrad, Rzhev, Moscow

And in High BR they would play in: Berlin, Sevastopol or Crimea, Tannenberg, Normandy, Ardennes

And the Japanese in low BR: Guadalcanal, Gavutu, New Georgia

And in High BR: Iwo Jima, Burma, Philippines

The new maps that would be included are: An amphibious assault map for the Pacific, for example Iwo Jima or also Okinawa and another more urban one like the Philippines.

Sicily, an Italian map, would be relegated to low BR and would replace the Ardennes or Normandy in said BR

Crimea or Tannenberg could replace Stalingrad in High BR as they are late battles.

Historically speaking, more or less at least these would fit the most:

Stalingrad should be BR2 - BR3
Belgium should be BR4 - BR5
Normandy should be BR3 -BR4
Moscow should be BR1 - BR2
Tunisia should be BR1 - BR2
Berlin should be BR4 - BR5

if this would be combined with a “preferred map system”, one could choose quite precisely what time period and battle he wants to play.

well and adding more campaigns / maps / settings would be rather easy to implement into the matchmaker, such as:

Kursk BR 3 - BR 4
Italy BR 3 - BR 4
West Germany BR 4 - BR 5
Leningrad BR 1 - BR 3
Netherlands BR 3 - BR 4
and many more

Not really, BR4 means T-34-85 and they didn’t exist during Kursk
