Battlefield dealt with mortars by having them revealed on the map when they fired. If you just sat there you would get counter fired.
i cant say there that broken, yes you can get a lot of kills with the mortar on some maps using the an ammo resupply but you only get a lot of kills if your lucky.
Same goes for the Radiomen, if you know where to aim then yeh you can wipe an entire quad but any unit can do that especially with grenades. Biggest problem is most people just sit back and wait for people to come to them, that’s not how you win battles, only time you should stop pushing is if you are defending the point
I dont think they are an issue unless its a completely open objective in Invasion (and there are a few)
In that one instance they are a bit much without direct counter. That and they can shoot from 100s of meters out of bounds.

Increase radio squad cooldown to 45-60 seconds per strike.
Don’t allow mortars to resupply.

I dont like not being able to resupply anything. Id prefer an overheating to the mortar OR a spotting marker on the map
Then the mortar guy just swaps to his other mortar man while his one is on cooldown. If mortar keeps resupply it will remain the most broken thing in game
OR they could just be revealed on the map when they fire off a few without moving. Meaning if they dont move, they get bombed or counter barraged.
a mortar squad is a support squad…its not meant to be front and center. without ammo they have to be,
Except theres literally nothing in game that gets marked on its own. It breaks the whole “realism” point of the game. And even if they’re marked if they’re sitting in their spawn (which almost all of them do) only a plane will take them out. Pretty much the only solution to stop them is to limit their ammuntion.
When A mortar squad fires, It gets a splash down indicator on the map to show where its hitting so they can adjust fire. Don’t quote to me realism. It would be no issue to get the same indicator when they fire, by marking their round about position.
And once they fix the out of bounds issue, Anyone can hunt them down because they will see the general area they are firing from
Except that even if you are not getting kills, you are stunning all the soldiers in an area, if you are defending in invasion, just shoot in front of the objective and the enemies will all get stunned and your team will get easy kills
Only trouble with a spotting marker is that most mortars sit out of bounds. Making them impossible to reach.
Which is why I have also said that the out of bounds thing needs to change
I made a game in a fortified district, and there was a mortar firing at flag A. Many times it massacred us. I took a stormtrooper, and I went into the part where the bunker is and I went into the enemy respawm zone. There I passed the area where it warns you “return to the battlefield” I heard the mortar shots and I found it … I emptied a magazine of MP40 to the Soviet. I was very satisfied xD then I died from being in the forbidden zone.
Comms squad with the artilery perk should be nerfed. Support fire every 30s is just nuts on some maps. And you can sit whole game outside of the reach and just spam. Same goes for mortar. ROF should be removed, give them couple more rounds and disable resupplying from the ammo crate. Or reduce ressuply to 1. And give them FF so nobody could spam them on the def. point.

Radiomen really weak and make near to 0 dmg at all.
And mortars can be easy sniped out, bombed , rushed with a tank or counter mortared.
By the way, i imagain the creater of this topic would be in WW1… no they dont stop firing, there flew at one day millions of grenades threw the air.
