At the moment, the game has several versions of weapons that are largely better than others. This approach is correct for the Mosin 1891 carbine and the 1938 carbine. Quite a different situation with the automatic PPD. There are two varieties. This is a sector PPD with 25 rounds and a disk with 71. The second is a formidable weapon at close range and performs its function. A PPD34. 38 due to the increased recoil and a very small magazine is essentially an unusable weapon. At close range, you can kill one and a half fighters before leaving for a long cooldown (5-6 seconds). It is easier to arm yourself with a knife or an axe. Based on common sense, it is easier to shoot from a PPD with a sector (25 rounds), due to the fact that the magazine is used as a handle for stable shooting. However, the return is the same as the disk one. At the same time, at medium range, the PPD can not compete with bolt rifles and even more accurate MP models. At the same time, most soldiers are armed with a sector PPD, since it is difficult to knock out a disk one. A possible solution is to slightly reduce the impact of the sector PPD or remove it from the game.
You get the PPD after your first match in the game. It works great as a starter weapon even with its small magazine.
With a bit more progress, you get the Madsen. It has much better recoil compared to the German LMG at the same campaign level, the ZB.
So, Soviet gets LMG with better recoil compared to the German ones. Germans get the SMGs with the better recoils. Soviets also get the shotgun which can be coupled with the PPD for CQC.
And don’t just March into a zone when you have 25 mag PPD. Plan your route, make sure you have cover. Throw grenades before barging in. Like I’ve said before, PPD is a lot more rewarding than MP if you are creative. The moment you try to use it like the PPK, it’s terrible recoil kicks in and what follows is the millionth whining post on the forum.
I regularly have moments in the game when I thought it would be better to have a PPD in that particular situation. It’s fire rate is incredible and would have been useful in mowing down large number of enemies. And there are also instances in matches when I’ve thought MP would be better. It all boils down to what you can make of what you have. Which is what I think wars are all about.
PPD (25) got 1,5 sec for all rounds with its upgrade +20 rate of fire. You definatly have a chance ro take out one enemy but we deal with the squads. So i got one and a half kill in 8 seconds with PPD(25). It have a real long reload time. Since I realise this i use only bolt rifles and winchester and knife in a short distance. PPD is very situational gun reliable only for tank crew or sidekick stormtroopers. You can flank sometimes but not the real clash with it. Of course if i go pro i will use it as well. Btw mp can use single fire.
Was wondering what you meant by “sector”. But what you mean is a “box” or “stick” magazine.
stick = sector (25 rounds)
Yeah I’m wondering what word translates into sector. As “sector” doesn’t mean anything in relation to guns in English.
Box or stick is more related to MP. PPD ones can be a horn like if you want=)
Let’s just say the devs did remove the PPD. An obvious replacement would be the PPSh. It has lesser recoil and a similar magazine. It is basically a PPK but on cheaper steroids. PPD drum take the current PPDs place. You start the game by having a gun that can essentially take down atleast 3 squads of new players with their 4 men squad.
Then you look at the German side, you get somewhat similar SMGs throughout the campaign. If you want anything better, you have to buy the premium packs. So, is it viable to give Soviets a weapon that solves what is considered their SMG’s weakness while keeping the German arsenal the same(i.e., their weakness of low rof still in place)!? imo this weapon unbalance debate will become even more wider if that happens.
Maybe total removal will be not the best solution. Upgrade or pek for horizontal recoil can make PPD(25) solid gun for 25 meters distance (close-mid) at least.
For now this gun is just pebble in your shoe on the way to DP-28(Madsen) or PPD(71).
The german SMGs are much superior to the rosia SMGs in every metric but fire rate.
This mean that aside from very close range, PPD user suffer while german user do much better.
PPD is uncontrollable and even if use semi-auto mode it have exact same recoil (possible bug)
Main problem with german SMGs is they are all the same which very boring, but all are very good
I would say mp41 slightly better than PPK due to less recoil. MP41 like laser but PPK jump more - as well as have slightly more damage but they are effectively equal.
PPD drum very good cannot wait to acquire but stick PPD very high skill past single room fight.
I do not know how quote but whoever say starter rosia LMG better than german start LMG is silly. Both uncontrollable recoil if not lay down. I often have trouble hit with either when go full auto. Rosia gun trade some vertical recoil for horizontal recoil, so it even out.
German however get mg13 which very good or even overpower due to ease of use and significant lower recoil and bigger magazine.
I think in general hipfire of some weapons too easy, particular LMGs. If aim LMG then bullet jump all over but hipfire and all bullet go straight??
The MP41 has less horizontal sway and comes fully upgraded, past that the German SMGs are all the same, dude. Saying you have to buy the premium pack to get a good German SMG is very disingenuous.
Also crying about the ROF difference is just being bad. You can easily chain headshots with the German SMGs thanks to the low rof and near non-existent recoil which is actually fairly hard with either of the PPDs.
I said a ‘different’ SMG.
And no one here is crying about RoF. I seem to be the only one accepting both the guns for what they are. If there’s anyone crying here, it’s the Soviet players about recoil.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, both these guns serve very different purposes. If I was playing as a defender, I’d rather take the PPD instead of any of the MPs. It perfectly suits the role the Soviets are supposed to play in 2 of the 3 available game modes. MP excel in midrange combat which I find important to push into enemy filled capture zones. Soviet players really need to stop these PPD recoil posts and enjoy that sweet fire rate.
And that’s coming from someone who spent the whole of Alpha test playing as Soviet and now moved to German side. I used to be mad at the PPD recoil but now that I’ve been both sides, I know exactly what either of these guns can do. After the nerf, I see the SMGs of either sides to be equal overall. The only complain is that the German ones got an artificial nerf.
I would personally like to see a recoil perk. It’s the best outcome to have from the current situation. It helps the Soviet players with recoil of their SMGs and German players with their LMGs. That’s a win-win.
“And no one here is crying about the RoF”

You brought it up in your own post I was replying to, my dude.
I’m not gonna bother with the rest because I can completely agree with your next post since it outright solves the issue with the SMGs and LMGs.
Even further a lot will be solved once they add a mounting system which would be beneficial across the board.
Agree, recoil perk could be connected to health perks tread.
That was in a hypothetical situation. If Soviets are getting their SMG recoil(the problem in question) rectified by a new gun as the original author asked for, then why shouldn’t the Germans get their SMG weakness(RoF) brought back up to the alpha values or get a new weapon that does the same. Kinda feels bad seeing German weapons alone getting nerfed or not getting buffed.
Those videos should explain it. The German LMG is is the MG instead of ZB. ZB is worse than that but this should give you a fair idea.
That’s from October the stats very well may have changed since then. As it stands the stats for the MG have it at 18 vertical and 22 horizontal which is a bit better than the 30/30 for the Madsen and the 44/19 for the ZB.
Either way I see a lot more deaths to the MG than I do to the ZB or Madsen combined so it can’t be nearly as bad as that video portrays.
effective recoil is recoil*firerate. The MG13 has a much higher firerate leading to more recoil.
