Model 7/2. 7.62 mm Degtyarev system submachine gun “PPD-30”. Model of 1930 chambered for the Mauser cartridge.

The operating principle is a modified Degtyarev system, without a gas vent, with a fixed barrel. The bolt is locked by pivoting lugs which, due to the large bevels in the connection points with the receiver, allow the bolt to self-open after the shot.

Main characteristics of the submachine gun:

  • Magazine … DP machine gun type magazine for 50 Mauser cartridges;
  • Sights … Flip-up sight of the “Japanese type”, front sight with a protector;
  • Submachine gun length … 720 mm;
  • Weight without magazine … 3.2 kg;
  • Weight with magazine … 4.21 kg;
  • Weight of empty magazine … 760 g;
  • Weight of loaded magazine … 1.01 kg;
  • Sight radius length … 352 mm;
  • Rate of fire … 1200 rounds per minute;
  • Number of parts for field stripping … 12;
  • Number of parts for complete disassembly … 19.

The submachine gun was developed at the BNKiS (Design Bureau?) in 1930. The primary developer was V. A. Degtyarev.

If the change is historically accurate then I support it!

Yes, I agree. But many people on the forum are biased.
Some guns could have higher and more realistic rates of fire, but they refuse to implement them, saying the current slow ones are fine.

I’ve even seen people claim that even if a round deals more damage on other weapons, balance should come before historical accuracy.
It’s just ridiculous.

Imo, historical accuracy comes first and then we could do things like lower damage and increase recoil for balance later

Yeah, changing damage values would also be pretty ahistorical.
You can’t expect a full-power rifle round to be worse than a semi-auto just for balance.

I think BR5 is already high enough — we should just give it the proper historical performance it deserves.
