Poll about Sherman ''Jumbo''

In the recent Normandy teaser, we saw an Easter egg leaking the American heavy tank called Sherman ‘‘Jumbo’’

Are you looking forward to see this tank in Enlisted?
[poll type=regular results=always chartType=bar]

  • Hell yeah!!!
  • Yes, but only if we get something cool for Germany (like Panther for example)
  • Yes, but only if we get cooler AT weapons
  • Don’t care, Panzerfaust is going to blow it up anyway
  • No, I can’t think of the way to balance this tank
  • Other
    [/poll]

I will close this poll later today so vote carefully

To me it’s kinda concerning how many people just say “yes we want it” without thinking about how it will be balanced. We don’t even have a panzerfaust in Normandy right now. all of the current german tanks can only penetrate the lower side hull, and maybe the MG port and upper side armor for the Pz4J.

It would require the addition of a tiger tank to somewhat balance it out, which in turn would ruin the balance for the M5, M8 and M4, with those having the same issues if the tiger is angled.

Some discussion is perfectly reasonable.

I voted no, but because there were no Sherman Jumbos in Normandy.

Best Sherman we could probably get is the M4A1 (76), but even those didn’t make it to France until July

If this is true, what about adding M18 hellcat fast tank destroyers?
[poll type=regular results=always chartType=bar]

  • Yes
  • No
  • Other

Or adding British tank squads with Churchill tanks
[poll name=poll2 type=regular results=always chartType=bar]

  • yeah
  • yes, but only Mark 3 variant
  • no
    [/poll]

Edit this poll into the post, so it stays at the top and doesn’t get burried.

As far as I am aware, for the landings themselves, there were only shermans and stuarts, in terms of american vehicles. The tank destroyers were only brought ashore later as they were not intended to be thrown into the midst of combat like the M4 was. They were rapid response forces ment to counter enemy tank pushes. For Brittish vehicles, there were churchills and cromwells.

I didn’t know there will be so many historical obstacles so I will allow commenting.

M10 was already confirmed and D-day is only one of the numerous maps in Normandy.
I looked it up and Hellcat was used in the Battle of Normandy, just not in the first push
So adding hellcat will be 90% realistic as only one map features the first push

Anyways, suggesting hellcat is much better than some guys who suggested tanks from 1943 to play in the battle of Moscow

Vote then

Both of those options are perfectly fine to me. Considering all the British weapons that look like will be added, I hope there will be British squads to play along with some of their tanks.

Also, just as a nicety, it would be great to see the DD Shermans make an appearance in the Normandy campaign, as those are the Shermans that actually made it to the beaches during the assault (except for Omaha, since due to rough waters and launching them too far out made it so most of them sunk at that beach.

DD Sherman’s and LVT’s could be useful if at the beginning of the game, we could spawn on boats

Also, I want to ask the community

What do you think about adding LVT’s (a1 and a4) and DD Sherman’s in Enlisted?
[poll type=regular results=always chartType=bar]

  • Yes add them both
  • Yes but only LVT’s
  • Yes but only Sherman DD
  • Nope
    [/poll]

that’s the main point that i wanted to point out, we have, others nation weapons, which it’s… ok i guess. but no sign of those faction or divisions for them.

it’s fustercluck of weapons and things putted together. don’t get me wrong, content is always welcome. but… i don’t know.

otherwise i would agree that it would just increase the overhall progression to an endless end.

so i would agree that some sort of techtrhee, would be nice.

unfortunally we have many things to think about it, and less actual solutions.

fireflies were also a thing

I asume those will come later

But balance-wise, they would be like the 76mm sherman, a bit too much firepower imo.

Loooool

What firepower?
Germans will get a tank that can’t even be penetrated by 75mm guns

Well oof.

Quick note: 75mm gun on the sherman can penetrate the lower side hull at a ~15-20 degree angle from the front. While this doesn’t make up for the entire lack of frontal armor penetration, you’ll at least know what to aim for. Meanwhile the jpz4 doesnt have a turret, nor a roof mounted MG, so it will be pretty bad against infantry, and its pretty poor mobility makes it relatively easy to flank it.

The Jumbo wouldn’t be as good here as it is in War Thunder, but hard pass on the Hellcat and Churchill, those would both be even stronger here.

Fireflies would be pointless, they’re almost pure AT.

I don’t see the purpose of tank destroyers on maps this small in general.

than yeah, @5762269 i think jumbos could be a thing

sorry i messed up. i was going to replay at cat using @ for tchof. but my brain decided to do otherwise.

Jumbo would have the roof mounted .50cal and has pretty fast turret traverse
The Hellcat would be killable with infantry rifles due to being open top
Churchill has weaker armor than the Jumbo and is slower.

I would love to see hellcat and churchill

Churchill is so slow, it will be free food for infantry so I don’t think it will be overpowered

Depends on how effective the explosive packs are against the churchie
M10 would probably be better than M18, with the M18 being reserved for a potential later campaign such as battle of the bulge, where it could fight alongside pershings and late shermans against tiger 1s, panthers, jagdpanthers etc.

Remember the commander has to be exposed to fire roof-mounts now in any tank.

Still leaves the higher mobility and faster turret traverse when compared to the churchill
