So what you’re saying is, when only one round remains in the chamber of this bolt-action rifle, we should eject that last bullet first, then load a full stripper clip?
This firearm has a 6-round capacity. When only 1 round remains, reload directly using a stripper clip.

At the same time we can go ahead and drop the M1917 to BR I. One extra bullet - loaded seperately - is a charming quirk, not worthy of a BR difference.
It should get its bayonet, too… it’s the same bayonet that would be used on any future Trench Guns in game (a style of weapon used by the US even into Vietnam), so it’s well worth the effort to implement.

or buff the stats a little bit and keep it on BR II
Sure, but I don’t see the argument for it… the US best equivelant for a Pre-War Kar98k is a Springfield M1903A3, the quintessential WW2 Springfield, which for some reason only exists in the Sniper configuration in game.
The mechanical reasoning is lacking too, the M1917 should be identical to It’s British rifle it’s derived from, which itself is in serious need of a buff as it’s a tech tree rifle which is somehow worse than almost all starter rifles (they should have the same starts except for in velocity and magazine capacity).
The M1917 is fine as is - and as is it’s BR I, not II.

For me it’s even now fine on BR II (execpt the reload mechanism). Was more likely a try to keep it on BR II if you want to set it down.
Technical it wouldn’t matter because I would still use it as BR I weapon. Might sounds strange but I like it more the Lee Enfield and SMLE
Yeah, it is a bit silly how this is the only >5 internally fed rifle that doesn’t work like it should
