Planes on Normandy are still way to hard to kill…the Germans as well as the US planes are way to survivable and especially the p38s are just unkillable…please just make the models like they are in warthunder and it will be fine
note : I dont know about other campaigns because I’m not that far in the others but I assume it’s the same on Moscow and Berlin…
Moscow is a whole different animal where fighters are extra useless because they only have anemic .30 cals.
I’ve found the IL-2 to be a more effective fighter than the Chaika because the IL-2 has cannons and can actually kill what it hits.

It does not matter how planes are anymore. Their ability to kill stuff as been nerfed into the ground. The AI immediately prone, most players prone, the explosion radius is anemic. Any kind of obstacle and you take no damage. It won’t be long until no one will bother with planes.
Currently the dmg model seems the same as Warthunder, planes die if you shoot them where they are weak. German or US goes down easely. If you shoot with 7.62 / 7.92 calibre however you wont do much, this is the same in Warthunder.

now you have to be precise with bombs no more of boom and zoom.
If you need to be precise, infantry is much better at it. Sitting in the air and trying to spot targets makes you a liability to your team, especially since you need to fly for a minute back and forth to reload.
Basic knowledge of spawn points? bullet traces? the obvious places where most of them gather? also the direction where you approach for clearer bombing rather scatter on building and hope for best.

By precise, you need to drop the bombs right on top of infantry and that infantry needs to be completely in the open, immobile and not prone, and those bombs to be big enough to do any damage. Any kind of obstacle and you are killing nothing.
Going prone next to 50kg bombs is enough to take absolutely no damage. And since bombs are marked, that is your queue do go prone for a second and render those bomb useless. Going prone next to some object makes 100 and 250kg bombs completely useless. That is how stupid it is now.
Since you need 40-60s for a reload, and the kill count is very low to matter. You are much more effective using infantry with a bunch of grenades to clear up clusters of infantry or better yet, il2s, p47s or bf110. Relying on bombers for this is a waste of time.
Reading you ranting i understand that fun cut short for Pilot mains. Also they rather nerf planes then bring in effective Anti-Air options for ground units which also is opposed by pilot mains.

Pretty sure this is exactly what people was asking for. The previous nuke bombs you dropped randomly anywhere on the map and still got kills was just absolutely retarded.
Well I suppose now you know how the AA feels. Shooting a tin can with AA doing absolutely nothing.
I dont mind the bombs being buffed in future once the AA & Plane dmg models has been fixed.

I had multiple situations when I was prone in a trench near 500(?) lbs bomb and survived. I guess this system is still rough around the edges needs more work.

You can put as many XDs in your post as you want but does not make it less a you problem in which you can not aim if you still think planes are unkillable.
toughest plane is the JU188 and even on that you can one shot the wing off with a 12mm.
Ju188 is oneshot like all the time lol even with the 50cal u can easily destroy it but ok
